Ms. *** is filing on behalf of her 87-year-old mother for whom she has POA. Mother lives at 1*** ******* ***** **** *****. AAA installed a new roof on mother's property in fall of 2018. She paid $1000 down and $200 per month for one year. She started having problems early on with leaking in her kitchen and since Jan this year there is leaking in every room. Ms. *** contacted Roy at AAA in early March. He said he went out himself and inspected it and there was nothing wrong. Consumers have had two other roofers out who said roof was poorly installed. Ms. *** says AAA was not licensed and did not obtain a permit for the job, saying her mother should have done that.

      Response:

      1. ****** *** contacted us 4 years after installation requesting an inspection based on a water stain over the kitchen sink on the east section of this ranch style house.

      2. I personally inspected the roof as I do with all potential warranty claims. Upon arrival someone at the property showed me 2 areas inside with stains on the ceiling. The spots were at the kitchen near the east exterior wall above a small window and at the front bedroom, west side of the house.

      3. There was no defects in the roof, however, there was a soil pipe near the east wall, and there were approx 10 shingles on the west section that had damage. The damage was not directly weather related as shingles appeared to have been struck by something, possibly tree branches or some other object. This is not a warranty issue.

      4. I applied sealant at the soil pipe boot at no charge. As I was explaining to the person at the property about the damaged shingles she informed me that ****** *** just called her and said she is having "someone else come to look at the roof". Upon hearing this I left the property.

      5. A few days later ****** *** telephoned me complaining frantically about "rotted wood that wasn't replaced" and "the felt paper wasn't removed". This made no sense since felt paper is supposed to be installed prior to shingle installation. And if in fact there was any actual rotting, it only takes a few months for plywood to rot from humidity. The roof was installed 4 years ago. So I asked her who she had inspect the roof, and she informed me that it was one of our competitors.

      6. By contract, the homeowner must have written permission from AAA ROOFING CO to have any other entity do such inspection work. The only inspections we authorize are by professional independent roofing inspectors or insurance adjusters. Certainly NEVER by competitors trying to sell roofing. Thus, her violation of the contract voided any remaining warranty.

      7. If ****** wishes to obtain the services of an independent roofing inspector, and provide a written report that actually states we installed the roof improperly, I will at that time reinstate the remaining warranty, and remedy any issues we are actually responsible for, if any, based on the remaining warranty percentage.

      Sincerely,

      Roy H****

Roy H****, AAA Roofing was hired under false representation. First to find out Roy H**** does no have a license nor does Roy obtain any permits before installing roofs.

This is a code violation. This information is Public record and can be verified through "Department of building and zoning" ###-###-####. Roy H**** assured by mother he was a licensed, bonded roofing contractor. He was not then and is not now!

Untruths Roy H**** is now trying to shift blame for not installing chimney counter flashing by saying he did not replace bacause my mother PROBABLY could not afford it.

This is another excuse for Roy's incompentent workmanship. My mother was not asked anything about a chimney flashing. It is not a roofer's decision to assume or decide what he THINKS a homeowner can or cannot afford. Roy should have asked but did not.

Roy is now shifting blame on *** ******* ****** *********** for supplying the wrong size nails. Any professional roofer checks there supply before installing roof begins.

The only amateur salesman as Roy indicated was not **** ******* salesman it is Roy himself, Roy's contract reads "20 year pro rated labor warranty plys manufactures materials SHINGLE WARRANTY. Now Roy is saying 17 year shingle life, Which is it? 17 year, 20 year or 3 years 4 months as it is now.

Roy needs to read his own contract it reads "having anyone other than the contractor Perform work on the same materials. No where does it read anthing about having another contractor roofing company INSPECT the roof.

It is the homeowners prerogative to choose who ever they wish to inspect.

We will not subject another roofing contractor, company, insurance inspector to Roy H****s harassments threats or Profanity.

      *** ****** ***** ***** **** ******* ************** ** ****** ******* ***** *** ** *** ***** ***** ********* ********

Any contractor who does not agree with Roy *** get the same treatment.

List of lies Roy H**** is telling.

      1. Roy installed Roof 3 years 4 months ago not 4 years.

      2. Roy indicated to only seeing 2 areas inside leaking. There is 4 areas in house with leaks, **** ******* also indicated 4 rooms not 2 Roofs with leaks are in Kitchen, Livingroom, Bedroom, & bath.

      3. Trying to blame something must have struck roof to do damage to shingles that were not nailed down correctly.

      4. ****** *** did not call anyone to look at roof while Roy was inspecting roof not did anyone say this to Roy.

      5. My mother was not asked or approached with any questions about the chimney counter flashing.

      6. Roy himself made this a budget roof as he calls it because Roy Pocketed the money that was give him instead of replacing my mothers roof.

All 3 roofing companies that inspected my mothers roof had bad comments about Roy H****'s workmanship.

      1. No ice watershield installed (Building Code requirement) But Roy does not Follow Codes or laws.

      2. Did not replace Chimney Flashing.

      3. Installed ridge vents incorrectly.

      4. Dips in roof where wood is rotten water getting in after 3 years 4 months.

      5. Pipe boot flashing reused as well as the chimney flashing.

      6. Old hat Vents were Covered with a tim metal and even starting to Cupping.

      7. Nails coming up.

      8. ************* *** **** **** * ****** ** * *** ***********

Roy H**** needs to do the correct thing and reimburse my 87 year old mother for the entire cost of her roof that she paid 4350.00. My mother would still have to ge the cost of repairing her ceiling from roof leaks.

Roy H**** is a Narcissist, Pathological liar.

      This company needs shut down.

I am not the first person Roy has done this to read his reviews.

Seems like there is no laws against scammers like Roy H****.

      Inspections in the manner described by competitors is work by other contractors. **** **** **** * **** ***** ****** ******* ******* ******* ********** *** ***********  ************** *** ******** ** ******* ** ****** *** **** *** *** * ******* ** * *** ************
Further, I've made my position clear to this customer. No amount of belligerence by her or competitors she uses to make false claims will change that.

A permit for installation (which was available at the customer's expense) does not change anything regarding installation whatsoever, so is totally irrelevant.

Again, and finally, the customer needs an independent inspector or insurance adjuster to inspect and report that AAA Roofing Co ACTUALLY installed a defective roof or FAILED any other roofing standard in the installation of this roof. Upon receiving such a legitimate report I will reinstate the warranty and address issues (if any) and perform any necessary repairs at the remaining warranty percentage.

This customer clearly understands very little about her own roof or the structure of the house, but is convinced she's been cheated. Badgering the original contractor (in business for 27 years) instead of trying to actually understand and resolve any potential issues is the least intuitive method for resolution. She has chosen the most futile route.

My direct cell number is ###-###-####. If she can manage to be civil and refrain from hysteria I would be willing to detail all aspects of the roof, the structural issues of her property, and offer solutions to her concerns. Most likely at a fraction of the cost that competitors are attempting to charge her.

Roy H****, AAA Roofing license was disabled in 2014 and has not be reinstated.

My Mother is a victim of a fraudelent company and fradulent owner.

A permit is required by law! If a permit was not obtained then work should not have been performed. Any legit. professional business knows this.

Roy H**** is deceitful, dishonest and this is not badgering. Badgering is what Roy has done to me and ******* *********** by his threats, profanity name calling very unprofessional. I will not subject another contractor to this kind of abuse Period!

I will be pursueing Roy H**** legally.

      ****** ***.

Customer concerns and dispute resolutions are important to any business. However, what this individual has engaged in falls well beyond the boundaries of a customer/business dispute. She has engaged in pure personal attacks, false allegations, libel and defamation. Although she has threatened in her complaint that she will file legal action over 6 months ago, she has failed to do so. However, as of December 16, 2022, I as owner of AAA Roofing Company, have initiated legal action against this individual and the 2 parties involved in the defamation.
Having an issue with a business does not give anyone the liberty to intentionally write/publish falsehoods and engage in personal derogatory insults aimed at any member of that business in order to cause harm to that business. This is exactly what this individual has done repeatedly.
The legal action addresses her false claims about licensing, permitting, the business structure, our alleged violations of law, the contract, what the law actually requires, the competitor’s defamation, and the attempt to cause intentionally and maliciously harm to AAA Roofing Company through false allegations, misrepresentations, and blatant lies.
