A contract was signed on 8/31/24 for the remediation of mold in the basement and attic of ***************, as well as for the installation of the Reme Halo. The total amount paid to SEECC,LLC was $5,500. I have attached the contract between myself and SEECC,LLC below to outline what the business committed to provide in the basement area and the breakdown of each cost. We had been working with the company to schedule for the work to be completed correctly over the last almost 2 months. The company had not shown up to several scheduled appointments to provide the work listed in the agreement. Employees would often not respond to calls or texts after not showing to appointment times. When the employees did come, they did not fulfill the contract agreements of completely removing all sources of contamination, removing staining to our satisfaction, and cleaning up any debris/residue created by the project in the basement area. Today 10/24/24, the employee from the company walked out of our home after working in the basement for an hour without saying anything. When we went downstairs to inspect the work that was done, there was bleach staining and residue all over our basement furniture including loveseats, a bookshelf, and our carpet. We contacted the company regarding these concerns and they stated that the staining should come out with a light disinfecting agent, which it did not. Not only was the project not completed fully to the terms in our signed agreement, but the company damaged our basement furniture which was supposed to be covered with a tarp or sheet. This was verbally stated to us by an employee of the company who was working on the basement. We understand if we are unable to get a full refund, as the company did do some of the work we paid for. However, we were never given a final walk through to discuss the work that still needed done in our agreement and we were left with furniture and carpeting that was heavily stained and damaged by the company.

      From: SEECC LLC

Subject: Complaint to the BBB on October 11th, 2024
Concerning 2 projects: Purifying the attic substrate, purifying the basement and finally purifying the house through there ventilation system. See attached agreements.

      To: the Better Business Bureau:

On September 13th, 2024 the basement project purification was started per our agreement. On September 13th the job was completed. The contract was only for 1 room and when we got there she wanted the drop ceiling removed in the 2nd room. So the furniture had to come out and we bought more plastic to cover the carpet. The original agreement didnt have the ceiling tiles removal but was added at a discount. We did the work by taking down the ceiling tiles in the extra room and cleaned up the debris and we didnt charge for the disposal of the tiles. The furniture was not in the area at that time. The carpet was covered and protected. ******* had no concerns at that end of the job (the 13th of September). We wanted to move forward to purify the attic, but ******* and ******* wanted to postpone the 2nd part of the project, due to ventilation issues in the attic. In the meanwhile, they put the furniture back. If there were issues why did they put the furniture back in the carpeted room?
Over 1 month later we got a call to proceed with the purification of the attic, and the attic substrate was purified. She had an issue with some stains that could not be removed, but the attic was purified. We explained to her that you cant see small organisms with the naked eye, it has to be tested. So a test was taken and submitted to the lab and the results showed no fungi exist. See attached lab results. Then Reme Halo was installed to purify the house, this was discounted as well, per our agreement.
While the attic was being finished, ******* now had some concerns in the basement one month later. Nothing was said over the month after completed the basement. We were confused about her
concerns and we told her again we need to test the area like we did the attic. She refused the testing. The technician still came back to address the areas of concerned 4 times. I have a clause in our agreement to charge if additional work as needed. We didnt charge for the services and the visits and SEECC LLC went above and beyond to satisfy the clients need.

If attic needs done there will be an additional cost. A 3.5% charge will be add for credit charge usage.

Finally, SEECC LLC works hard to do the best job we can, and we pride ourselves at the compliments we receive. We are disappointed that ******* wasnt satisfied, but it doesnt reflex on our multiple efforts to make it right. Last, if ******* still had issues she should have not put the furniture back in to the carpeted room. She is also requesting the full refund of the entire job, when we should have invoiced her.

      Customer response

      11/04/2024

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of my decision appear below.

The company did not propose an action to resolve this issue.
The statement provided by SEECC, LLC is compiled of false information. The initial basement project took 3 days, Wednesday 9/11 to Friday 9/13. The contract was NOT for one room. ***** *** came to our home before beginning any work to test and we discussed in detail that we wanted the entire basement to be treated (3 rooms). The ONLY addition to the initial contract was asking them to take down the drop ceiling and treat underneath. They added an extra $700 to the initial cost of the basement remediation due to this, which we agreed to. However, when ***** *** came to take down and dispose of the drop ceiling, he told us that he would be unable to remove the tracks. We understood this, but we were never given a refund for his inability to remove the tracks which was initially quoted in the extra $700 for the removal of the drop ceiling. Also, during this 3 day period when he initially began working on our basement, there was NO furniture down there because we had not moved in yet so the information provided by the business regarding this entire project is inaccurate.

We did have concerns regarding the basement after he had finished those 3 days, but we were told to let the area dry out and stain remover to set in and that we could revisit the basement again afterward. The employee left for his wedding and honeymoon directly following the remediation of the basement, which was completely fine with us and we expected to have to wait for any further work to be done. When he returned, we needed to wait for a roofing and insulation company to come out before scheduling the attic project, which we already paid SEECC, LLC half of the cost for the attic work. We got a text from ***** *** on 9/23 that his son was home from his honeymoon. I responded letting him know that we were trying to get an appointment date for the roofing, venting, and insulation work and we would contact his son afterward to  schedule for remediation of the attic.

On 10/1, I text ***** *** letting him know that we contacted his son and we were waiting to hear back from him to schedule remediation for the attic. The attic remediation started on 10/7 and took 2-3 days. We paid for a tape test in the attic to confirm the work. After the remediation was finished in the attic, we brought up areas in the basement that we would like revisited again and he said he would be happy to do it and wanted us to be satisfied with his work. After that, we attempted to call and text several times to schedule appointments for him to come back to revisit the basement. These attempts were either not responded to or scheduled and the employee did not show several times. He did eventually come to treat the basement again for the 2nd time. At this time, when we asked for further treatment in the basement due to there still being spots with mold growth and staining, we were moved into our home. We moved the furniture to the center of the room and asked if that would be okay. We were told that he would cover the furniture with a tarp and would be sure not to get any of the material he was using on the furniture. He said he would be back the next day to do a walk through with us and pick up his equipment. He did not come back the next day. We tried to contact him several times again for him to return and again we were met with no-shows or no response.

The third and final time that he did come for the basement on 10/24, I explained in my previous statement that he walked through the basement with my boyfriend. He reassured us that he would take care of everything that was pointed out to him and after he was done he would walk through the basement with my boyfriend and I before leaving our home that day. The employee stated at that time that his manager was pushing him to do a tape test in our basement, but he thought it was not necessary and he would just finish the job we asked him to do. We even spoke about paying for an air test after the basement was completed to confirm that everything was remediated. Before beginning his work that day, he stated again that the furniture did not have to be moved. He was in our basement for an hour that day before walking out of our house with his equipment, not leaving an air purifier which he said he would utilize every time due to the strong chemicals and my medical condition. He never did a walk through with us that day before leaving. After he left, my boyfriend and I went downstairs to check the basement and there was staining all over our couches and office furniture.

At this point, we are left with stained and damaged furniture, a basement that has not had a final walk through after paying thousands of dollars for remediation, and no way to confirm if the mold has been completely remediated as we were not given the opportunity to schedule and pay for a final air test. Again, I do not expect a FULL refund, as the company did work in our home. However, we are left to pay for damages to our furniture inflicted by SEECC, LLC. We paid for the services of the removal of the entire drop ceiling and tracks, and the tracks are still left on our ceiling with no refund for not completing that work. We also did not do a final walk through with the company to determine if we are satisfied with the work we paid them to do. Their job was to ensure the mold and staining is no longer present and we have no way to know that they fulfilled their contract agreement, as we were never given a final walk through and voiced our satisfaction or lack thereof. I would have absolutely paid for an additional air test to ensure that our home is safe, but instead we are left cleaning up the mess this company made and needing to hire another company to check this companys work. We are asking for a partial refund due to the company not fully fulfilling the contract agreement as I detailed in the previous sentences, as well as damages done to our furniture which the company stated they would use a material to cover and protect.

I attached text message conversations to this document. The last text message where I asked how to get the staining out of our furniture was never replied to and the company has not contacted us since regarding the damage or doing a final walk through or finishing the job.
      Regards,

      ******* *********
