New Seasons (Nyberg Rivers) has charged me for a paper grocery bag, even though I have EBT. It has sporadically done this since I first became a regular shopper in 2015. The Williams store in 2015 would charge me as an EBT client for a bag, and constantly fail to program sale prices in its registers. I have found New Seasons uncommunicative in the past, so I am not forcing myself to endure the hassle of communicating via its site or email contact. Five cents is not a lot one time, but for people needing assistance, it matters. It is also fraud to charge a state fee to state aid money, in this case, a client's EBT. Multiply five cents times thousands of customers times twenty-one stores, times over three thousand days in about a decade, and that multiplies out to a lot of fraudulent money. It also multiplies out to a lot of poorly-trained or incompetent cashiers. (Or register programmers.) Today, the cashier didn't even know when I reminded her that EBT clients do not get charged for a bag. She asked the next cashier, and THAT cashier seemed hesitant, and answered. It was obviously the WRONG answer, as i was charged for the bag. It is IRRELEVANT that the state changed my EBT classification from "Food" to "Cash" -- it did so FIVE YEARS AGO, and I have not had this problem with any store except New Seasons for that five years. SEE ATTACHED RECEIPT PHOTO. I have included the transaction number in the appropriate field. New Seasons employees are the worst at responding to contact communications. For a decade, it refused to even RESPOND to an online suggestion for the Williams store driveways (a California McDonald's did better in 1978), failed to call back with info after taking my number, failed to program sale prices in its registers, and charged what could be thousands of EBT purchases for bags.
