I bought a 2011 Jeep Cherokee overland on October 22, 2022 from Select Auto Sales. I paid almost ****** for the vehicle and the service contract. In the contract that both parties signed there is a "we owe" stating they would fix my AC. It was only blowing Cold air out of the driver side not the passenger side. That following week in October of 2022 I took it Cascade Automotive Repair, ****** told me the Ac was fixed and sent me on my way. I noticed it still did not get fixed. I called Cascade Automotive towards the end of April to get before my 6 months was up as it states the "We Owe" only last for 6 months. Cascade automotive pushed me out until May 9th, 2023. After I dropped the vehicle off at 8:03am, ****** called stating it was going to cost me $1,570.00 to get my vehicle back. Then I called ********************************* (Manager) at Select Auto and told him what happened and read him the contract we had signed and said the problem that you told me you would fix did not get fixed and now I am being charged the $1,570.00. He continued to laugh at me and said "Well you've drove it "X" amount of miles so your broke it. and "You should of checked the *** and a handful of other very colorful words I won't include. After arguing with this man I told him to have the Owner call me. ********************* called on May 9th, 2023 at 11:31am and we spoke for ************************************************************************************************************** their business. ** called me back at 2:06pm that same day and said "I can get it lowered by a couple hundred, but it's your fault and he's not paying". I told him that was not enough and they should have fixed it the first time. On that same day May 9th, 2023 I went down to Cascade Auto to claim my vehicle and they charged me $120 just to have my vehicle. Then threaten to smack me and my boyfriend with my 10 month old in my arms. We had to call the Police as He was refusing to give ** the Vehicle and kick ** out. Police repost numberBusiness response

This vehicle was inspected and repaired on or about 10/28/2022. The blower motor was operating intermittently, and one of the blend doors was not working properly. They also found the cabin air filter to be dirty. The blend door in question was replaced as was the blower motor and blower motor resistor. The ** system was checked for leaks and none were found. The ** system was fully recharged and the cabin air filter replaced as well as an oil change. The vehicle operated as designed and was accepted by the customer.
The new problem is the plastic heater box itself has cracked and is not allowing proper operation of one of the blend doors. This is a new problem, similar to but unrelated to the issues found and repaired in October of 2022.
The "We Owe" that was signed by both parties also clearly reads "I hereby accept this WE OWE with the understanding that it is valid for only THIRTY (30) DAYS from the date the We Owe is signed by the authorized dealership representative...."
No one laughed at you and no one has said "you broke it" or "it's your fault". This is clearly no one's fault and there have never been any accusations of abuse, unfortunately sometimes components wear out or break. These types of things happen more frequently on plastic components that are exposed to hot and cold cycles as is the case here.

We purchased a used 2013 ***** Equinox LT from Select Auto Sales in ******* ****** on January 6, 2023. We purchased this vehicle for $9,000.00 plus fees, totaling $9,421.80. This vehicle was to replace our current daily driver that unfortunately was totaled in an accident. We were informed that the vehicle went through a hundred and something point inspection by the dealerships mechanics. We were lead to believe we were purchasing a sound vehicle with a clean record, Carfax and sound mechanically. Fifty calendar days after the purchase, on the morning of February 24, 2023 the engine blew up in the 2013 ***** Equinox ******** vehicle had to be towed to town to a local mechanic. We learned from the mechanic that the vehicle's engine had blown up and needed to be replaced. I received three quotes from different mechanics and the amount to replace the engine were all approximately the same cost. The cost to replace the engine would be about the same cost it was to purchase this vehicle. We are now without a vehicle, without the money to replace this vehicle and very distrustful of people or dealerships selling vehicles. We live about three hours from any town or city big enough to have new or used car dealerships. We traveled to *******, ****** and surrounding areas looking for a used vehicle. Please send copies of the three estimates so we may better understand the diagnosis and repair costs. "The vehicle's engine had blown up" is too vague to understand what the root cause of the failure is.

Thank you for providing the estimates. Unfortunately there is no diagnosis stating what failed nor any insight as to why. (There is always a possibility that components could be replaced instead of an entire engine?) None the less, there are approximately **** miles more on the vehicle at the time of failure than at the time of purchase, as well as roughly 400 miles between estimates. It is impossible to anticipate a pending failure, much less that far into the future. At this time we are unable to provide financial assistance with ***********, however I am including an estimate from the repair facility that we recommend which is substantially less expensive than the estimates you received. This estimate includes a used engine with far less miles than the vehicle currently has, as well as a much lower labor charge. We truly wish this unfortunate event did not take place but sometimes machines do encounter unforeseen mechanical failures.
