On Thursday September 12, I had made contact with Volkswagen of Salem about test driving a 2015 TDI Touareg they had for sale. They said it was still available, but was out on loan to a customer that had their car in for service and would not be available to be test driven until Saturday September 14. I made arrangements to test drive the vehicle at 10 am that Saturday morning. When we arrived, we were informed that the vehicle was no longer available, that it had been put on hold for a customer driving down from *******. I was not happy, but let it go because I did have other cars on my list that I would like to look at. I then asked to look at a 2013 TDI Passat for $11,995. It was still available. We test drove it and liked what we saw. We went in to talk about purchasing the car. They presented us with a bunch of extras on the quote for the financing we didn't want and a large quote for licensing fees (around $600). They also had Kahu added into the price for $499 and didn't give us a choice for taking it or not. My husband and I have a history of getting financing through our bank, then bringing in the paperwork to the dealer for the purchase. We told them we would do this, and while we were at it, we were going to have the bank run a ***** Blue Book estimate since the dealer could not provide us with one when we asked. We told them we would be back on Monday September 16 with the forms from the bank. Their total cost would be $13061.98. The *** from the bank was $8691 and with fees our total would have been just under $10,000. We went back to the dealer with a check for $10,000. The sales manager argued with us about the *** saying "Their KBB was over $9000." I asked how they could have a different number than the bank, pointed out how they tried to mis quote the registration fees, and that we really didn't like not having a choice of the Kahu system. Eventually, he started to dismiss us. We took our papers and told him to have a nice day.Review from Sky G

Zero stars. Do NOT buy a car from here. I bought a 2018 ****** forester. It was sold with bad tires, bad as in hardly any tread left. Mismatch tires, and all different treads. Had to buy new ones. Was sold with a bad battery. They then installed the replacement battery incorrectly as I had to take it in because it was having issues again. I wont take my car back there for any service. Car wouldnt start and woke up to it being dead within the first week. They said they do a 350 point inspection but when I asked for a copy, they didnt have it. The inside of the car is missing random pieces in the carpet, and was super dirty. Also sold it to me with two cracks in the windshield. They want you to believe them over what your handbook says for your car. The entire process with them has been h*** I wouldnt wish it upon my worst enemy. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself headache. Do not buy a car from Volkswagen. They are not trustworthy. At all. no worst experience exists. I heavily regret buying my car from them, and the lack of respect by the employees is also crazy.Review from cynthia e.

bought a truck from them for $20,000. come to find out they lied about the rust, lied about the dry rotted tires, knowing i' was going drive on interstate 5 for 4 hours. i get home take it to les schwaub they inform me about the tires and the lug nut was stripped, and hammered in, so no one woould replace tires. get home from ******************* and it breaks down. out of car for 2 weeks, and had to pay out of pocket $100 for a melted relay switch to starter. i raise h*** they offer to do a rust undercoating, which by the way is completely gone so obviously didn't bind to rust. go up there from coos bay they didn't order the tires and wanted me tp drive another 8 hours on dry rotted tires or stay in a motel. the took me and my elderly mother to a motel 6 in and industrial area with no services, had to uber to another motel cause my elderly mother was sick and with me and we needed food. $1200 in motel bills for them to relace tires which they should oh replaced before selling the car to anyone.. after 6 weeks ago broke down again this time i had to replace ignition. cost '$500 to fix. and now it's broke down again. this dealership does not give a rat's a** about their customer's safety or the [publics safety. they knew i was on disability, and yet lied about the truck being from back east and being rusted out. lied about the dry rotted tires risking mine,my mothers and everone else's life that could been next to me if i had a blowout at 65 miles an hours. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. the lemon laws do not apply to used cars. i am stuck with this rust bucket lemon that i paid $20,000. and i can't even keep it running.Review from lisa s

We recently purchased a used vehicle and while the process itself wasnt too bad, the ending was a disappointment. While we were agreeable to some things in regards to the deal, we werent told until the signing that the vehicle only had one key, no ***S, just a single key. The vehicle was also missing a manual and a spare tire with the **** kit. While this may not seem like a lot to some people, when you make a large purchase like this everything counts. This vehicle may be used, but its new to us so a manual would be a big help. Having to open the door with the key is not the end of the world but having the *** for remote opening and closing is something we wanted when we spent our money on this car. And a spare tire with the changing kit? That should just be a given, every car should be sold with one because in the event of a tire problem you need to be able to change it. So because of this we will have to spend more money on things that we shouldnt have to, the keys themselves are not cheap! These are things a dealership could have easily taken care of with hardly any expense to them. All we were told over and over again was oh, this is how the car was when we got it from auction. Yea, so what, we dont need to keep hearing that when all it takes is just a few extra things to provide your customers with good service. Now I will say we should have spoken up more, we should have made the demands, but for us it just didnt seem like it was something that we should have to waste our energy on demanding. It should be a common courtesy, something a large, well known dealership would do on their own because it certainly wouldnt cost them much at all but would have made a big difference to us. When we brought the vehicle back to have something fixed I was told a spare tire would be found for us but nope, nothing was done about that. I am sure it will be chalked up to miscommunication, oh we thought you knew, oh we dont provide that, excuses to make it not their fault. But aReview from Ian F

Watch out for theses guys. I recently purchased a used vehicle from them that is still in the shop at this dealer, because of many problems that they obviously didn't check before putting it out for sale on the lot. It is now going to cost me thousands of dollars in repairs that they should have done before ever selling the vehicle. All of my trust in the auto selling world is gone. If I had the time and money I would file a lawsuit, but they have all my money. They will continue operating in this manner because they have no reason to stop. The fact that they are taking advantage of people like this is sick. All of this at Christmas time too, thanks a lot scrooges at VW Salem. Rest well tonight knowing that your screwed over a completely loyal customer, who will never ever buy another care from you.
