Deceptive advertising and misinformation. We provided petland employee Rozele, general manager, with a clinical finding, within the contracts allotted timeframe, of our new German Shepherd having hip deformity with potential health risks in the future as she gets older. The vet said this is a genetic defect that should have been made knowledgeable to us, the buyer. The contract also promises this and yet and still the general manager refused to give us a refund or offer at healthy dog at the same value.Initial Complaint

I believe I have been a victim of a bait and switch when I purchased my puppy on 01/03/2024. The advertised puppy was a Cavapoo but the one I was shown and bought was a poodle. (Attach. A). The puppy I wanted was still being advertised as available as of 01/26/2024, 2024. (Attach. B).My puppy had a sneeze and cough that progressively got worse. I was told its normal for puppies. Within 12 days, he stopped eating, drinking water, slept all the time and lost weight.Petland offered 30-days of complimentary ************* Coverage from the date of purchase so I felt his worsening condition would be covered. I filed a claim for that visit which was $329.53 but received only $6.42. I requested from the insurance company a detailed explanation for this minimal amount but received no response. I sent to them all receipts of all visits during that 30-day period which totaled $537.73. (Attach. C).Petland charged $399 for a "Puppy Essentials Package Small Breed" and $450 for an Enhanced Protection Program but was told these charges are not in writing but are on the receipt for inventory purposes only. (Attach. D).I am attaching the first 8 pages of Petland's 27-page agreement. (Attach. E), I also sent this complaint to the *********************** and to Petland. I got nuisance calls from ************ at least 22 in a row the other day, 2-4 seconds apart. I blocked the number (Attach. F). These calls may be related to my complaint. No messages were left. I will only communicate with anyone related to my complaint via text, fax or email.Since this situation was caused by Petland and not overseeing the insurance company, I am requesting that Petland reimburse me for half ($2243.26) of the total amount ($4486.52) that I paid for the imposter puppy, which includes all of the additional charges on my receipt, plus $329.53 for the emergency vet visit. This has been stressful and emotional for me. I had no choice but to take him to a vet for his illness.Initial Complaint

We purchased a female tri colored basset hound on Saturday Feb 17th. While at Petland the puppy had liquid diarrhea 4-5 different times in the visiting area where you meet the puppy. We specifically asked about the diarrhea and both the employee that was assisting us and the manager assured us this was because of deworming medications that were recently administered. I know that sometimes deworming causing diarrhea. At this time I did not notice anything else out of the ordinary. We proceeded with the purchase of the puppy. After arriving at home we noticed blood in the puppies poop with every defecation. We called Banfield and they scheduled us in to see a vet for Wednesday the 21st. We took two fecal samples, one from Monday the 19th and one from Tuesday the 20th for their lab to examine. They called us with the results today Saturday the 24th. The puppy has Cystoisospora Oocysts and Giardia Cysts both came back in a moderate amount of identified eggs. From what the vet said, in this amount of evidence, these parasites are not something that can be developed in the short time we have had the puppy. Also, was told a puppy only would show symptoms of diarrhea 24 hrs after the deworming treatment and the puppy has had diarrhea the entire time. There is no documentation showing the deworming treatments from Petland after 1/16, showing that the puppy was not treated for over a month between past treatment and when we purchased the puppy. I went to Petland to confront the manager regarding this. The entire time the manager stated there was dewormings yet fails to produce any paperwork proving it. So with the puppy having liquid diarrhea, Petland knew they should not have sold this puppyInitial Complaint

I purchased a dog from Petland and they assured me she was housetrained and taken to the vet. I had to return the dog because the pet was not housetrained and it destroyed everything in my house and the dog was not up to date with the shots I was told it had. I spent $5000 on this dog and did not recieved a credit for the return of the dog. The dog was sold again so they got $10000 on one dogInitial Complaint

We bought Chewy in August of 2021. He was over $5,000. We bought him from Petland in Monreville, PA. Right away, he was skinny, VERY malnourished. The "normal" Bernese mountain dog should look NOTHING like this. Chewy had gastro problems from day 1. Not only gastro, he was TERRIFIED. This poor boy had been through A LOT more than these "loving dog seekers" vomitied to us. Please read the reviews. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! chewy was sold to us as a "pure breed" Bernese mountain dog...later in testing we find out we was in bred with multiple health problems. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! WE PAID OVER $5,000!!! To what, put a hole not only in the dogs life but in our family?? Are you serious???? Put an END to this horse "CRAP". We will take this even further. Chewy and all the others desevere more! We are going to get the word out. Disgusting.Initial Complaint

On 7/3 I went to Petland Monroeville and wanted to purchase a puppy for 6100. They ran my credit for Easy Pay and said I would get 6 or 12 months of 0% interest. The salesman **** came back and said they didn't get an answer back right away because it was a weekend but that they could also offer me the Petland credit card. I asked what the APR was because I wanted a few months of 0% to pay it. He told me you get "90 days same as cash" I told him that was fine and planned to break my payments into 3 payments. I received my bill today and not have a promotional APR. In fact it is a 29.99% APR. I would like reimbursed for the first 3 months of interest.Initial Complaint

Date of transaction: September 18, 2021 I purchased a puppy from Petland Monroeville. I was given verbal and written information on the puppy's breed. I wanted a specific breed, size and type. In May 2022 I purchased a DNA test from Embark. It was determined that this puppy was not what I purchased. I was defrauded, lied to and given no opportunity for any restoration. I am a kidney transplant survivor and wanted a specific puppy as an Emotional Support Animal ESA. This puppy is not what I paid 5k for. I want resolution. Thank you. I have every piece of paper, vet documentation and Embark DNA Results. Petland breach the contract by defrauding me.Initial Complaint

I purchased a hypoallergenic “bernadoodle” puppy from here for 6,000 dollars only to find out she’s not hypoallergenic and she’s not a bernadoodle. She’s a couple hundred dollar mix. Dog was also sick when I brought it home and paid a very large amount in medicine bills. Petland customer service and warranty department was practically useless. Don’t go here unless you want to risk getting a dog that you don’t even know what it is alone if it’s healthy.Initial Complaint

I bought a dog on Saturday. I was quoted a price of $5,300 which was to include pet insurance and a puppy starter kit including a crate, food and supplies. When I got home and checked the itemized receipt they charged me a “doc fee” of $25, a $450 puppy kit essentials kit, $3.99 for a can of food, $18.99 for a bag of food and 7.99 for a collar. All of those were to be included in the price of $5,300. I wish to be refunded for those additional charges beyond the $5,300 including the tax. They are an extremely dishonest company. They told us the higher bill was due to “taxes.” In addition they claim to not use puppy mills but when I got home with my dog and looked up the breeder, she is a known puppy mill with documented past violations.
