I hired Van Der Stad Plumbing to replace a kitchen sink and a bathroom vanity on 8/31/22. They left that day with a pipe to my bathroom vanity that was not attached right and said they would return on 9/1/22 to fix. Water collected under new vanity and raised the bottom of vanity. They also did small demo work on my wall in bathroom and around 9/7/22, I noticed water damage in my kitchen just under where my bathroom vanity is located. I contacted Van Der Stad and they came out on 9/11/22 but said they could not find a leak or would not claim responsibility. Also, when I told them about the pipe that was not properly secured under the vanity that caused water to pool on the bottom of the vanity causing damage, and asked them to replace vanity, they never really responded to my request. Now, this morning (9/18/22), my kitchen ceiling beneath my bathroom vanity collapsed, causing a heck of a mess. I took pictures. I also contacted my homeowners prior to the collapse. Van Der Stad Plumbing said the could not locate a leak on 9/11/22 and didn’t feel the work they did caused the water damage but my kitchen ceiling and wall was not damaged before the did their work.

End of 12/2021 kitchen sink sprang a leak. Ins. carrier ****** Home Warranty sent Vanderstad on 1/12/22 to access the work and we paid $85 for service fee. On 1/12/22 Vanderstad replaced faucet with builders grade and fixed the leak, When finished he presented us with a bill for "Parts & Labor" for $200 stating than Insurance Co only covered $70 for faucet. After a few days I felt something was wrong and I called ****** Home Warranty to question what they covered. I was told that the Ins. Co. gave Vanderstad $248 for the repairs and yes they only covered $70 for faucet which was fine. So now the plumber has $85 plus $248. I explained to the Ins. Rep. what happened and they contacted Vandeerstad requesting he provide an itemized recpt. for the work done. Did not hear anything from plumber so I called him and he said he would have a recpt. mailed to me by end of 2/11/22. I called Ins. Company on 2/21/22 and they again called plumber but had to leave msg. I called plumber this morning 2/23/22 and left msg. stating that I had to carry this situation further. Can you help me recover the $200? I can't upload the 2 receipts but they are #**** and #****

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Regards,

      *********************

Vanderstad has made an offer to pay me $100 as a courtesy. Since he can't present me with a detailed receipt, I feel this is his way of admitting that he cheated me. I hope others will make sure they see the prices of everything he uses to make repairs and does not make the same mistake I did.
