September 30, 2021 G. Fedale completed a full siding replacement on my residence. September 6th, 2022 I noticed a leak in an upstairs bedroom. Upon inspection of the roof from the exterior, 42 nail holes in 10 different areas were discovered on my 6-year-old (at that time) asphalt shingle roof. These holes were filled in with an unknown substance, presumably a silicone type caulk. The leak started in one of the holes where the patch had already failed. It was determined that G. Fedale and their subcontractor wrongly mounted 10 pump jacks (for scaffolding). The braces for their pump jacks were incorrectly nailed through the exterior of my asphalt shingles. The shingles, ice and water shield, drip edge molding, and the sheathing in 10 different areas were pierced 42 times. The interior water damaged my attic, insulation, and ceiling. I immediately filled the leaking hole in to mitigate any further damage and phoned the G. Fedale North Wales office. I respectfully declined G. Fedale’s offer to band aid my roof back together as two other more reputable roofers and the subcontractors’ insurance adjuster all agreed, due to the amount of damage, area covered and layers pierced, the entire roof needed to be replaced. G. Fedale’s offer of patching would also create a checkerboard effect with no guarantees of any future problems. I was finally provided the certificate of insurance for both G. Fedale and their subcontractor. It was determined that G. Fedale’s subcontractor was not adequately insured for the job and coverage was denied due to a roofing exclusion, where they were not covered for any damage they cause to roofs. G. Fedale and their project manager allowed their subcontractor to walk, affix and touch my roof when then they were not properly insured to do so. G. Fedale did not do their due diligence in vetting the proper subcontractor for the job. I am now left with an entire roof that needs to be replaced due to G. Fedale and their subcontractor’s negligence.Business response

G Fedale is fully insured and in compliance with all PA Laws and Regulations. Our insurance company declined the claim due to it being a workmanship issue. This was not an act of God or done in malice. We recommend that *** ***** put a claim in with his Homeowners Insurance and they will engage our insurance company, if they believe it is warranted.
As far as the damage on the rood, we disagree that this needs a whole new roof system. This is unreasonable and not a fair resolution to the damage that was done. G Fedale recognizes that a mistake was made on the Pump Jacks installation into the roof. We have been and still are willing to come back and repair the damages that was done on the roof. If *** ***** would still like us to come out for these repairs, we would be happy to comply.Customer response

Complaint: ********
G. Fedale's response is not accurate - their subcontractors carrier denied coverage for "workmanship". However, workmanship would only apply to work they were hired to complete - the siding. This is for resulting damage that they did to my roof.I cannot accept the response from G. Fedale as they have not provided an itemized quote on the scope of work they expect to perform on my house, including how they will address the multiple layers of the roof system that were damaged as well as the interior attic, insulation, and ceiling from water damage. I cannot blindly accept a subjective offer. Should they be able to provide a detailed explanation of the scope of repairs they expect to perform, as well as who will be performing the repairs, I would be happy to review.
