I received a letter dated 2/21/23 from Janney indicating that my account had a balance due of $150.00. The letter said that if I had questions to call the Service Center. I called the Service Center today. I was told that they $150.00 was for paper statements generated for my account every quarter (around 3 sheets of paper double sided mailed to me every quarter or 12 sheets of paper a year mailed to me 4 times a year). I objected to payment of this amount for two reasons: 1) I was never notified via letter that this charge would be incurred. I was told by "customer service" that a newsletter included with one of my 2022 statements provided notice of this change, buried with my statement. This is not adequate notice for such a huge charge. 2) The charge is exorbitant. Most banks charge $2 for a monthly paper statement consisting of the same information. I am being charged $37.50 for each paper statement. I am willing to resolve this issue by paying Janney $2.00 a statement or $8.00 for 2022, which is an appropriate charge. As, I signed up for electronic statements today, I also want to confirm that I will not be receiving any such exorbitant paper statement charges for 2023.
