I paid a lump sum of $4,095 on 2/17/2023. My dispute happened immediately & continued 7 days after payment. I tried to change my match preferences and Rob insisted that I keep a very specific criteria. Turns out he had a quota he needed to fill for another client and decided to use me to do it. I told him my concern again, and he insisted I leave it and that it is no big deal. Then I received a call from Autumn and before she even spoke I told her I needed to change my preferences again. She got very pushy and tried convincing me to keep the preferences because, little did I know, she was calling to match me with the client that was outside of my preferences. Rob then started texting me,begging me to go out with this woman. I caved and ended up going out with her. I felt terrible the days leading up to this scheduled date but I went anyways. Rob said that you have to meet the matches we send you, and since I spent all that money I was trying to follow his guidelines. This was a horrible situation to be in. I knew going into this that this woman was not my type, but she didn't know that. She thought I wanted to be there because I'm a nice person and was buying her dinner. I could tell she was interested in me, but I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth. The next day I called Autumn to tell her how uncomfortable I was and that this isn't going to work. She hung up on me! I immediately felt like I had been scammed. I called Rob and he said that I had to keep a good relationship with Autumn or this wouldn't work, and that another woman took him to court and lost. I didn't even ask for a refund yet, and he was saying that! He had his responses planned as if he's done this many times before. That's when I requested a refund, 7 days into this. He got mad and said they don't provide refunds and we aren't friends. This funny because we were best friends when he was soliciting me. I feel awful for the other woman and I'm going to have to tell her the truth I guess.Business response

Sometimes communication can be very misunderstood, and we believe this is the case here. Our records show a totally different story. We matched you with someone who met most of your preferences except she was one year older than your preference. The one year age difference was the main issue here. We believed she was a great match for you, so we called you and opened you up to meet her even though she was one year older than your preference. You accepted! We even have a text from you the day your date with her excited that you had dinner plans with her. When I spoke with you after your date you said she was a great person, but you wanted to change the race preference as you were open to race, so we did exactly that. We explained this might take more than one date to be successful. You also agreed she could of been the right one and we will not know this until you meet. We also explained this is a process, but every match should improve based off your feedback. We also provided you with a second match that fits all your preferences which you never replied to. This is a safe and productive process, but you must give it a chance. You have had one match and we even waved it in good faith. We encourage you to continue this process as we are here to provide you the best customer service and best matches. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, but we will make every effort to turn your experience around. The person who responded to this is lying. I told them I didn't feel comfortable with dating different races, AND I wanted to change the age preferences. The innocent woman they matched me up with is African American, who is older than I asked for. So it's not only the age but the race I was not comfortable with. They used me to fill a quota and meet someone I wasn't comfortable meeting.The only reason I went out with this woman is because he said I will not be following the guidelines pf the service that I paid all this money for. I also gave in to Rob saying "Do me a favor" and go out with her. Then after I told then how unhappy I was, they began sending me pictures of a beautiful woman to try and lure me back in. I personally dont even believe this Alexis is a real person. The rules of the service are that all of the matches are "blind", but yet here they are sending me pictures of this woman. I wonder why they didn't connect me with Alexis right away? I wonder why they begged me to meet another client that didnt match my preferences? This whole experience is cringy and distasteful and uses human beings looking for love to make money off of other human beings looking for love. No shame. I have attached all those messages here.

Partial refund The matches are not as acceptable. I specifically stated, social drinker/drinks IE not someone that is in recovery or doesn’t drink. First match was not a drinker. This is a screening question. I stated must have friends and be social. The other match had no “real friends”. His words not mine The place is a scam. The “matches” I didn’t speak to told me they paid significantly more than I paid for a membership. I didn’t disclose my amount paid.Business response

The last time we matched you with a great match you wanted to think about it and never got back to us. Then, when you finally contacted our office, you stated you forgot you had a membership with us. We offered to resume your membership and offered you a great match. You declined the opportunity and here we are several months later trying to get a refund. Please refer to your Membership Agreement and your Addendum regarding our cancellation policy. We are always willing to discuss your previous matches as well. I was misled by Philadelphia Singles. They took money from me and just put me with an individual to make a match and did not follow the criteria they promised. They assured me that the matches they were giving me Match the criteria that we discussed, however when meeting the individual there was nothing in common. I've asked for a refund on several times I've allowed them to persuade me to give it another try and it's just the same thing. They then said I had less introductions then paid for would not issue refundBusiness response

We apologize if you are unhappy at this point of your membership, and we are taking this complaint seriously. The member has approved and has accepted every match that was sent to her. The member requested her membership be placed on hold on July 5, 2022 and now wants a refund. We have suggested a telephone conference call so that we can resolve any of her concerns, but she is not receptive to this. The member still has matches left and we are willing to work with her to find solutions to her concerns. Just because a member has not found the right one or is unhappy with matches doesn't mean she is entitled to a refund. Please call our office for further assistance.Initial Complaint

10/30/2017 I paid $2000.00 to Philadelphia Singles for 10 Match-Up Dates. They didn’t give me an Account #. All I have is my Membership # *****. They matched me with 4 Dates. I had 6 Dates left. Which I hadn’t used. $2000.00 divided by 10 Dates = $200.00 ($200.00 x 6 Dates) = $1200.00 6/24/2000 New Owner Harvey L*** (###-###-####) I paid for $1000.00 Photo Pre-Screening for the 6 dates I still had left. Soon after that I put my Membership on hold (Inactive) because of COVID. 4/18/2022 I called to Activate my Membership. : (###-###-####) Message said: ‘Voice Box Not Set Up’. I called many times after that, got the same message, so I couldn’t leave my message to activate my Membership. I than found out that Philadelphia Singles had closed down without telling any of their members. Philadelphia Singles should Refund me $1200.00 + $1000.00 for a Total of $2200.00Business response

We apologize for any and all confusion and inconveniences, but we did not close. We have sent out a mass email to all our clients stating we are in a transition period. However, we are still servicing our clients. This member may not have received the email since she put her membership on hold. We have emailed this client on Monday 05/16/2022 to call us or email us so that we can reinstate her membership and start servicing her. We are awaiting her response. Thank you. I met with Rob at Pittsburgh Singles in July 2021, and paid $6,700 for 10 matches. I asked Rob if they had men in my age range who met my criteria and he said yes. I received one match initially, and six months have gone by and I have not received a 2nd match. I was led to believe I would receive a match every month on average. Certainly, no one spends $6,700 at a matchmaking service for 6 months to go by without a match. I have no faith or trust in Pittsburgh Singles.Business response

I would like to apologize in advance for any issues you may have encountered. We do appreciate hearing from you as feedback is the key to our continued success. It would be a better experience for both of us if you would contact our office with any concerns initially to resolve any issues you are experiencing. Our records show we have sent you two matches and we waived your first match due to your unsatisfaction. The second match in September of 2021 states your feedback to us was that we really hit it out of the park with this match and that you were planning a second date and we have not heard back from you since. It is very important to give your feedback if you are not dating anymore so we can work on another match. Please be advised that Pittsburgh Singles takes this feedback very seriously. Also, our contracts state in paragraph 3b introductions are generally provided at a rate of approximately one to two per eight-week period. However, as introductions are provided on an AS-AVAILABLE basis, the rate of provided introductions may vary with each individual member. You did initial this paragraph. None the less this could be a result of non-communication and we will contact you this week to solve this issue.

Excuse me ******, but that is complete and total bull***t. I spoke with you twice after I let you know **** was not in a position to date after losing his friend ***** and with his dad in hospital. You and I spoke a month after I sent you my review of **** so I could confirm you were looking for a match and you said you were. A month later I called you to see what was up and you said there were no matches and you blamed it on the holidays. I want to give your company a chance to do the right thing and refund my $6,700 less one match. I am seeking the advice of legal counsel.****** ********

I was charged $1195 in November for a dating service by this supposed professional match maker and have yet to get 1 date. They are difficult to get ahold of and I just want my money back.Business response

This client has received two introductions within 2 weeks of joining our service. The first introduction decided not to meet him and the second was credited back to him as a courtesy to show good will in helping this client. Our offices were closed December 25- January 3, 2022 and we not only text this client our schedule but it is on our answering machine. We have met the terms of our contract and a refund would be unfair and unjust. This client is fully aware and has signed our no refund or cancellation policy. At Philadelphia Singles we understand that when people become members of such a personal service, they may second guess their decision. Customer satisfaction is important to Philadelphia Singles and our staff looks forward to continuing to work with this client in the process of finding that right match.Customer response
