My daughter had just completed her contract with the ******* & was home in transition for a few wks until college. During this time she willingly turned in her plates & was serving a ACTIVE registration suspension on her car 2017 VW Jetta. Because we live in a townhome complex the towing company comes & tows any car they feel is abandoned which was not the case because the suspension was being served, directly in front of her home. She immediately called the tow company to explain the situation. The company was extremely nasty & refused to answer any questions stating you are not the owner of the car, the financial company is & we dont have to tell you anything. Which is not true because the car loan is in her name. They would not offer any solution & COMPLETELY refused to discuss it with her. She wanted to tow the car to my parents home/private property. Again would not even speak with her stating not your car we dont have to speak to you. They also wouldnt allow her to retrieve any of her belongings. Which was 1/2 of everything she owned. So a few weeks pass as she attempted to contact the Financial institution & see if they can resolve the matter for her. They also dragged their feet & would not get back to her in a timely manner. Eventually, my daughter had searched up the laws for PA, it stated that they were required to give her her property. During this time, my daughter had returned to ****, PA from college to get her belongings. I myself witnessed the tow company being very rude & nasty with her & the police had to become involved. She received her property, but we also noticed that the suspension was lifted during this time. So we went the next day to retrieve the car, they made her leave her phone at the front & refused to show her an itemized bill until after she paid for the fees. They wanted to charge $4000+ &stated the rest of her loan $10,000 wont go on her credit & said do you really want the car? They also started a salvage title prior.

      Silverback Towing , LLC. Response

"Thank you for your feedback. Silverback Towing operates with the highest standards of professionalism, legality, and integrity. After thoroughly reviewing our records, including documented notes, phone call recordings, and audio/video surveillance, it is evident that this review is riddled with inaccuracies and misrepresentations. Below, we will address the situation in detail and set the record straight.1. Towing Procedures and Legal Compliance The vehicle in questiona 20xx VW Jettawas towed at the explicit request of the townhouse property management due to its lack of valid registration. As per Pennsylvania law and the propertys regulations, unregistered or suspended-registration vehicles on private property may be towed. Silverback Towing has no authority to selectively enforce this rule or make exceptions, even if the vehicle belongs to someone serving a registration suspension. The moment a vehicle is impounded, legal timelines come into effect. The Registered Owner is responsible for acting promptly to address towing and storage fees before further legal actions, such as the Chapter 73 PA salvor process, begin. This is where the Registered Owner and her family failed.Instead of promptly removing the vehicle from the propertysomething entirely within their controlthey allowed the situation to escalate unnecessarily. It begs the question: If the family was so concerned, why didnt they have the vehicle towed to private property immediately, preventing this entire situation?Their inaction directly contributed to this outcome, and now they seek to shift blame for their failure to act responsibly onto Silverback Towing, which adhered to all laws and protocols without exception.2. In-Person Procedures Are Mandatory Silverback Towing follows strict policies requiring all vehicle-related matters to be handled in person by the Registered Owner or an authorized representative with proper documentation. This is non-negotiable. Phone calls alone are insufficient, as we must verify identity and ownership with valid ID and paperwork to ensure the security of the vehicle and compliance with state regulations. Our records show:Numerous phone calls were made by individuals other than the Registered Owner, many of whom were unauthorized to act on her behalf. When the Registered Owner eventually visited in person, she arrived without an appointment and was informed of the charges and procedures in detail. The reviewers claim that we refused to communicate is not true. We communicated within the bounds of the law and our policies. The delay in resolving this matter lies solely with the ***************** failure to follow the necessary procedures in a timely manner.3. Retrieval of Personal Belongings Silverback Towing demonstrated human empathy by going beyond what the law requires. Under Pennsylvania law, personal belongings do not need to be released until all fees are paid in full. Despite this, our staff cleaned out the vehicle and returned the ***************** personal items, including items of significant value, before any fees were paid. This was done as an act of goodwill to assist the Registered Owner during a challenging time.Unfortunately, this goodwill was met with hostility and misrepresentation. The claim that we refused to release belongings is categorically false. As a result, Silverback Towing has adopted a new policy: Personal items will no longer be released from impounded vehicles until all fees are paid in full. As the saying goes, "It only takes one person to ruin it for everyone else."4. The Reviewers Perspective Is Flawed It is critical to note that this review is written by the father of the Registered Owner, who was not directly involved in the interactions with our staff. His version of events is based on hearsay, secondhand information, and emotional frustrationnot facts. Our records, backed by timestamps, call logs, and video/audio recordings, demonstrate that:The Registered Owner was provided opportunities to retrieve the vehicle and belongings in compliance with Pennsylvania law.Our staff explained all charges, policies, and procedures clearly. The delays were caused by the ***************** failure to act promptly and comply with required proceduresnot by any action or inaction on our part.5. Respect for **************** Silverback Towing has the utmost respect for those who serve in the **** Armed Forces. However, military service does not exempt a vehicle from following state regulations or property management rules. While we acknowledge the ***************** service, it is irrelevant to the legal requirements surrounding this towing. The towing was conducted at the request of property management and handled in strict accordance with Pennsylvania law. Any implication that Silverback Towing acted unfairly or targeted the Registered Owner is entirely baseless.6. Addressing the Reviewers Claims The allegations of rudeness and nastiness are subjective and unsupported by evidence. All interactions at Silverback Towing are recorded, and our staff acted professionally within the boundaries of our policies despite facing challenges in communication.Furthermore, the claim that we refused to provide information about fees or itemized bills is false. Our policy, which is common in the industry, states that fees must be paid before an itemized receipt is provided. This ensures accuracy and compliance with financial policies. The reviewers assertion that Silverback Towing charged excessive fees is also misleading. The fees were calculated based on standard towing and storage rates as outlined by Pennsylvania law, local township regulations and other factors. This review is a baseless attempt to shift blame for a situation caused entirely by the ***************** and her familys inaction. Silverback Towing strictly adhered to all legal requirements and policies, demonstrating both professionalism and empathy throughout the process.Should the reviewer or Registered Owner have further questions, we encourage direct communication with our office. Silverback Towing will continue to operate with integrity, professionalism, and fairness, ensuring that all actions are conducted within the boundaries of the law."
