I am an 80 yr old widow & on Oct. 10, 2023 a representative of Martel Plumbing&Heating was assigned to my condo unit to check out my furnace & hot water tank. He pressured me to sign online an amount of $375 for minor repair of furnace & an amount of $3,650 for a 40 gallon power vented water heater altho I told him I was uncomfortable with not having an itemized paper quote listing breakdown of parts & labor charges. He noted all business was on line. It has since come to my attention that an other condo unit owner in my complex had paid $1,500 for similar work in her unit. I believe I was grossly overcharged & taken advantage of due to my advanced age & lack of knowledge of paperless transactions. A close relative of mine has called Martel with the complaint regarding a total of +$4000 paid them. Martel has not responded. The removal of old water ********************* of new heater took place on 10/17/2023.Business response

*******, Im sure this must have been very frustrating for you. As you know all of our pricing is up front to prevent these things from happening. Im sorry to say that you must have been miss informed from one one of your neighbors unless their tank was replaced several years ago. The cost of the tank is alone is approximately $2,000-$2,200. As you know we have been in business for a long time and that not because we make a habit of taking advantage of our customers. We pride ourselves in customer satisfaction and competitive pricing.
With that being said I will have the office contact you in the near future so we can come to an agreeable solution to make sure you are satisfied.
