I hired Mr. Pruitt to finish about 2500 sqft of drywall starting on Sept 9th. I fired him on Oct 19th because at that point he had only actually worked between 8 to 10 days total and of those days worked between 4 to 6 full days onsite. He never showed up on time and was always late. Some days he would promise to show up and work the whole day but would arrive and have some personal reason to leave early and only worked 1 to 2 hours or not show up at all. This went on for nearly 6 weeks. This should have taken no more than 2 weeks at worst. When I agreed to hire him I was under the impression that this being such a huge job that he would only be working on my project as he had previously indicated he couldn't start my project until after he finished up another job but it became apparent that he was doing other jobs at the same time. He told me himself on at least two occasions that he had to stop working on my project so he could work on other job sites. Mr. Pruitt had showed up late on Saturday, Oct 14th and advised he would be back on Sunday and would work a full day but instead he showed up late again and told me that he could only work for what turned out to be less than 2 hours. He had sanded two rooms very quickly and then told me that he wouldn't be able to come back until Wednesday because he had promised to do work for another client. I texted him on the following Tuesday to tell him that I thought that he was rushing through doing the last two rooms and that it showed and that I wanted him to touch up several rooms that he had already done because I thought his workmanship was not up to par. I also asked if he could work at least 2-3 full days in a row and agree to a deadline for satisfactorily completing my project before doing any others. He called me and began to be defensive, adversarial, used an unprofessional tone, and lectured me on how good he is at doing his work. Additionally, from beginning to the end he never once cleaned up after himself.

First of all. I wanna say how disappointed I am with this complaint. However, customers have the right to complain. If they are not happy. I do disagree with the customer about what actually happened, and what was originally agreed on. I was hire to do some Drywall finishing. The time I was hired. I informed the customer that I was booked up, but I would fit him in. As long as he didn't have a problem working with my schedule. He agree to work with my schedule. I don't normally work on the weekends. However, I gave my weekends to get started on his job. Not to mention. He did not have the sheetrock up in the rooms he wanted me to finish. He also added extra walls he wanted me to finish. That was not part of the original contract. I started in the rooms he requested that I start. I finished the first couple of rooms. He painted them, and didn't have any issues with the finish job I did on the drywall. He actually told me how much of a great job I did. Everyday that I work was a full complete day. once you put the first coat on drywall. You can't put a finish coat on until the next day. So, if I did leave a little early. It was because. It was nothing more I could do, until the next day.

I got into a car accident while doing this job, and had to take off a couple of weeks. Due to my injuries. He sympathize and told me to take as much time off as I needed. I came back to work. When I got better. I was on his job every day. Because of my accident. I was so far behind schedule. I told him that I had a two day job that I needed to do to help keep my schedule from falling to far behind. He was okay with that. I received a long text message a couple of days afterwards of him complaining. His complaints were mainly about me rushing, and it seems that he was just trying to find the to complain about. so, I reached out to him in a calm manner, trying to reassure him. I wasn't rushing, and I would take care of any issues he may have. A day or so late. I received another text saying he wanted to part ways with me as his contractor and with the contract. He asked me for a settlement offer to conclude my service. I provided him with a offer. He agreed. I went by his house picked up a check for the agreed amount and the was the closure of that project

I forgot to add that I there has been 2 out of the 9 spaces that I was able to paint so far. One was a small bedroom and the other was a hallway which I had you touch up after I painted it and you never actually finished sanding so it is unfinished at this point.

The two rooms that he painted had no issues pertaining to the finishing of the drywall. He did no toughing up of the drywall. He had a problem with the imperfection of the ceiling. At the beginning of the project. We both spoke about how none of the drywall he install was flat to his ceiling. That was due to the house structure and how the house was built. He want me to straighten out a indenture in his ceiling in the hallway he did not like. All though I agreed to fix it for him. I also reminded him. I was not gonna be fixing any of the imperfections do to his ceiling structure. I was only focused on making sure the drywall was finished correctly. As far as me not sanding that one particular area. Which was no more than a foot long. He also mentioned to me. It was not a priority. He wanted me to proceed with everything else. I am gonna also add. Upon finishing the first to rooms. He did not have a problem with none of the drywall finish work I did on the rooms I painted. He commended me and added extra rooms for me to do, because I did a good job on those rooms.
