I have had plants around my home for 3 years. In March of this year started Top Turf’s tree and shrub service. Now all bushes are 100% dead and tree 50% dead. They are not providing any resolution and claim it isn’t their fault. I have done nothing different than use them.Business response

The issue was just uncovered today 11/2/2023 as I was reviewing my credit history. There are two collections on my credit report for the same amount originating from Top Turf. These two collections seem to result from continuing to being charged for two applications AFTER I called and concerned my service. I had to repeatedly call their office to deny service and in fact my wife called me when a technician was in our yard treating it. They finally stopped coming and the girl in the office always apologized for the inconvenience. Turns out they sent two applications with off charges to a debt collector but did so twice for the same invalid debt. I have contacted Top Turf and they conviently say they changed phone services and no longer have those call recordings to review. There are other Google reviews that demonstrate that they continue to charge clients after cancelation. There behavior then allows them to collect on an invalid debt and put it off on a debt collection agency forcing the former client to then have to deal with all the issues and work that come with trying to rectify it. This is a predatory business practice.Business response

After reviewing the history on this account, we found that we had agreed to give this customer a one-hour text or call ahead before treatments were to be performed on the property. When pulling the actual hard copy invoices from two years ago, we found that these notifications were not given as we agreed to do. No other reason than this is needed to render the balance on this account invalid. It is a standing policy that we do not perform work on a property that requires pre-notification without actually notifying the customer. This policy was not followed. We have notified the collection agency that this debt is invalid, and that any record of it should be removed.Initial Complaint

Top Turf was hired to handle my lawn care and has failed miserable. They have performed services that have damaged my lawn in a way that looks unrepairable. I have shown them my photos from 2022 as compared to 2023. Their services are at best horrific and have not rectified the situation. They simple change out service techs with the situation leaving permanent damaged to my lawn. I simply want a full refund of all monies paid to them for services not rendered as this will easily cost me 3x the amount to get it back under control.Business response

The damage to the lawn is indeed unfortunate, but none of it was caused by anything Top Turf did. As multiple representatives have attempted to explain on multiple service calls and conversations, this lawn is saturated with water from poor drainage. The freezing weather in December caused irreparable damage to the roots and crowns of the turf when the water saturated soil froze. The damage to this lawn occurred long before we ever set foot on the property in February. The lawn was dormant at that time, and the freeze damage could not have been noticed until later in the spring when it was time for the turf to begin greening up.
The customer has requested a refund for the paid services we have provided this year. We will certainly do so because there was never really any turf to work with from the beginning. It was damaged long before our services were engaged.Initial Complaint

There's extensive (about 90%) damage to our lawn with most of the grass dead. The current damage was most likely caused by the company using incorrect weed killer or spraying the entire lawn instead of spot treatment. The technicians last viewed and confirmed the condition of our lawn over two weeks ago and have not yet offered any remedy.Business response

Inspection of the lawn was delayed because our Operations Manager was dealing with the death of his mother. The lawn was inspected last week. There is bare ground and wheat straw on a large portion of the lawn where some other organization dug up the lawn. The lawn was very thin and weedy when we started with it in the fall of last year. What little grass there is on the property is not dead, but dormant during the winter. I have authorized the refund of payments for the fall applications not because they did damage to the turf, but because we never should have began treating the lawn in the condition it was in. In fact, our treatments worked exactly as they were meant to work because they removed the weeds from the lawn and prevented the growth of the fall and winter weeds. Our program is designed to maintain established turfgrass lawns. We should have informed the client before we performed the first treatment that they needed to establish a lawn before we began treating it. We failed to do this. The refund check will be in the mail tomorrow.
