I am filing the complaint on behalf of my mom. She does not have a computer or an email address. This information was gathered from her. One of my mom's neighbors referred Warren Allen, BA Tree Service, to my mom for tree cutting services. He visited my mom and gave her a price for the cutting and removal of a tree. On August 30, 2022, the power line was disconnected and moved and Mr. Allen arrived around 11am the same day. After he was done cutting most of the tree, the men with him started putting the debris on the trailer. My mom already had the check written, but he told her he hoped she had cash because he did not have a bank account to cash the check. He then asked the men with him could they deposit or cash the check. They could not and she gave him cash. Shortly thereafter, he told her he started cramping and would come back the next day to finish. He wrote on a piece of paper provided by my mom that he received the cash and that he would return the next day. He never returned to finish the job. My mom called him several times and he would not answer or return her calls. She told me what happened and I began calling him. I believed he only answered my call because he did not recognize the number. He told me on two different occasions he was coming, either the same day or the next day, and he never showed up. Now, he is not answering my calls. I could only find one BA Tree Service in Kershaw County. I went to the Kershaw County's treasurer website and the property owner is listed as ****** ******* However, on the Kershaw County's tax assessor website, the property owner is listed as ****** *** *****. It appears to be a residence. I feel he has taken advantage of an elderly person by taking her money and not completing what he was paid to do. He should be held accountable. He is unprofessional and untruthful and I do not want this to happen to anyone else. Attached are pictures of the debris, partially cut tree, and the note.
