On/about June 1, 2023, we received a bill where my mother, Linnette J. Scott, was being billed for services performed on April 26, 2023. However, my mother was never seen on April 26, 2023. The dates of service are/were: (1) Initial Consultation - April 11, 2023; (2) Eye Surgeries - April 19, 2023, and May 3, 2023; and, (3) Follow-up appointment(s) - April 25, 2023 (Dr. Elliot - Eye Centers Tennessee in McMinnville, TN) and, May 22, 2023 (Dr. Elliot - Eye Centers of Tennessee in McMinnville, TN). On June 1, 2023, I called the number on the bill with the provider ***** ************* and despite my requests not to be cold transferred, was transferred to the voicemail of ‘***** - where I left a detailed message. On June 5, 2023, I also e-mailed the surgical coordinator, **** ********; and, on June 6, 2023, forwarded that e-mail to the general mailbox for the provider (info@ecotn.com). However, and to date, no one has replied to us. Please find attached a copy of the e-mails and bill to/from the Eye Centers of Tennessee; and, page 7 of the Medicare Claim summary.

      Business response

      06/26/2023

Above I have attached our response that we wrote back to Ms. Boyd. She had not received a call back from Nella or Lisa due to they were both on Vacation during the time she inquired from them. Since the response we wrote to Ms. Boyd we have not received a response from her. I hope our response shows that we have explained what happened and what her questions were. But she has not reached out since we have tried being in contact with her before this complaint was received.

      Customer response

      07/04/2023

      To Whom It May Concern,

I apologize for not responding sooner. When I first logged into the BBB website, I thought the only message was the notification from BBB advising me that the BBB reached out to the Eye Centers of Tennesee. Today I logged in to see the "alleged" response from them, which I deny was sent to me. If you look at the alleged e-mail, it appears they copied/pasted a fake message because it is missing the watermarks and/or date/time stamp that AOL puts on e-mails that are replied to. Next, if indeed they sent that message to me on/about June 7th, why did they send it to you all on/about June 26th?

On top if the issues with the authenticity of the e-mail they allege they sent me, their response is insufficient - as a medical provider cannot bill for a date of service that did not take place. In other words, we were not seen on April 26, 2023; and, that same code they are billing us for ******* was already charged to us for both eyes on the first visit we had with them on April 11, 2023 (please see attached bill). Therefore, if they are alleging that they are charging us for another half of testing, then they need to put the correct date of service or remove the additional charge because, AGAIN, we were never seen on April 26, 2023. And, if they allege they need to bill us for another half of the same testing *******, again, they need to put the correct date of service and/or add a modifer to ***** (to demonstrate that we are being billed for the same procedure taken place on the same day).

In sum, I do not consider the matter closed and will reach out to this ***** ********* person. And if you are going to close your case with me, please update the closing to show that I reached out to BBB, where I said it was not resolved.
