I mailed a payment to Williamson Medical Center P.O Box 1088 Brentwood TN. 37024 on 09/02/2022 for $400.88 check *****. On or around 09/14/2022 I received a phone call from WMC stating the check wasn't signed and if it was ok to go ahead and run, I agreed. On 09/26/22 I received another call from WMC billing stating I needed to verify who I was and there was something wrong with my check. I refused as I wasn't sure if the phone call was a scam. I called WMC and asked to speak with a member of management. I was transferred to ******* (no last name) after she also inferred that I had bounced a check I asked a a series of questions ******* replied that the poster probably posted my check to someone else's account and they had received the check on 09/12/22. ******* then asked me to make a credit card payment. I refused and asked her to correct her books. I made ******* aware that the check hadn't cleared my bank yet. I also made her aware of the call I'd received prior. I stated if the unsigned check was the issue just mail the check back. ******* and I agreed that the check would get mailed back to me and I in turn would sign and reissue the check or make a payment with my credit card.. On Saturday Oct 1st I received the $400.88 bill again but with a different statement date. I want to pay this bill (well I have paid this bill) but I will not issue payment until I receive ck 5630 in my hand. I can put a stop payment on the check but WMC will have to incur those charges. Being that ******* admitted that they did in fact received the check but not really sure what's going on that I was not posted to my account. I also made ******* aware that I'd mailed two additional checks for separate charges, of $183.00 each and hadn't heard that something was wrong with those checks.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/05) */ We received a payment for services rendered by way of a personal check that was not signed by the check owner/patient. After contacting the patient via phone on 9/9/22 to let her know that there was no signature on the check, the patient gave us verbal consent to try cashing the check without signature. After failed attempts to cash the unsigned check, Williamson Medical Center talked to the patient again on 10/3/22 to explain why she received a new statement for the unpaid balance and to let her know we were returning the unsigned check to her via mail. During that call, the patient asked that no additional statements be sent to her until she receives the returned check and requested that a manager call her to finalize the issue. At this point, further statements have been put on hold, we put the unsigned check in the mail, and our manager left a voicemail for the patient. At this point, we are waiting to hear back from the patient as to whether the returned check was received and how the patient would like to finalize plans for submitting the new payment.Initial Complaint

Williamson medical center has clearly advertised on their website that you will qualify for financial assistance if a household of 5 income falls below $81,500 a year. I did the math a million times to make sure our income fell below that number before choosing a hospital for my surgery. We filled out all the paperwork and gave them check stubs that were required BEFORE I even had my surgery. Now, after the surgery they are completely lying and saying they calculated our income at 96,000 a year!! That is no where NEAR what we make. I am so livid bc we know how much money we make and I did the math a million times from the check stub we provided to them. They are refusing to explain how they could have possibly gotten that number and are flat out lying so that they can deny financial assistance. This is false advertisement. I would have chosen a different hospital for my surgery had I know they were going to deceive, lie and scam. In fact, another local hospital which has the same exact guidelines as them approved us for 100% financial assistance the same month. According to their site we qualify for a 60% discount based on our income and household size. All I'm asking is that they not scam people and do by their advertisement. Again we would have ans could have chosen a different hospital has we known. They are lying and asking us to resubmit which I am not going to do because we already submitted everything they needed and it's been 3 months and they refuse to explain how in the WORLD they could possibly come up with an income that is 16,000+ more than we actually make.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/03) */ Williamson Medical Center works as best as it can with every patient who requests financial assistance as our goal is to collaborate with all patients to together develop a payment and/or assistance plan that works for their particular circumstances. Per our policy, at the beginning of this collaboration the patient must submit comprehensive and verifiable family income records. After all documents have been submitted, standard calculations are applied to determine the patient's level of qualifying assistance. Inevitably, there are some patients who apply for assistance but whose total annual household income puts them above the qualifying threshold. In these circumstances, we try working with them to set up payment plans that fit within their means. In all situations, we strive to provide high-quality, compassionate *** affordable care to every patient we serve. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/06/06) */ No this is not satisfactory at all. They did not even address the complaint. They sent some stock response that did not address my complaint at all. This problem is I have proof we fall under the income limit and sent in every paperwork that was asked and they are lying calming we make more than we do. And I have PROOF we DONT make what they are claiming. This is not satisfactory at all. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/06/08) */ We recently talked via phone to this patient and explained that we needed additional documentation to reevaluate the application. After receiving the new documents, we were able to come to agreement on a financial assistance plan.
