I had just came out of bankruptcy and had the letter they asked for. I asked for a decent vehicle which is only worth 10,000 and I even traded a car in as the down payment. I was trying to trade the vehicle to lower my car payment and then realized that the car I have they sold it as 25,000 when it's only worth 10,000. I will never go back to them ever to get a vehicle. So I'm stuck paying almost 700.00 a month . Please help me to figure out how to get out of this messOle Ben Franklin Motors, Inc. Response

Ms. ******* purchased a vehicle from us on 12/07/2023. The sales price was $19999.00. The payment is closer to **** than it is *******. The value of the vehicle depends on condition and mileage. This was 10 months ago but I can assure you that we did not sell a $10k vehicle for $19999.Review from Randii B

The one on clinton hwy is a scam. They didn't listen to us when we told them where we wanted to stay within budget. They had us purchase car insurance through one of the people they know BEFORE we even went into the financial office to sign paperwork. Then while in there before we signed all papers they had jumped the price by almost *****, when asked and confronted by the issue, the sales person then takes the papers and rips them in half and walks out. We have been trying to get our money refunded by their insurance company who won't release it until they have a letter from ole ben franklin stating we never left with the car. When I caked to ask if they emailed the letter over he assured he did but really he sent the wrong thing. Very unprofessional. Rude agents and asks manager. Do not recommend them.Ole Ben Franklin Motors, Inc. Response

I traded in my car to them. They had me pay a down payment & get insurance. All was fine until I called the next month and asked who do I make payments to. I was asked to come in and re-verify all of my information. I handed them the title to my car(traded in) as well as my keys. They told me they never got the documents from me. I asked to speak to the manger I worked with and the sales representative they told me neither of them was employed there anymore. I was told they may have to take my car unless I can get another co-signer. I ended up going to get my car re-financed through my credit union after they informed me Ole Ben ran my credit again without my permission. I told the new manager I had it approved through my credit union why was my credit ran. He told me the bank they went through never picked up my loan and the transaction never happened. I asked about my car I traded in and he said he’ll have to get back to me. They charged me for GAP insurance and wouldn’t let me get it through my bank loan. The credit union paid it off and I make payments with them now. They told me never go to Ole Ben if you are trying to build your credit. They will destroy it and scam you out of your money.Ole Ben Franklin Motors, Inc. Response

Unfortunately sometimes things happen during the loan process. If certain documents that the bank requires are not received the bank has the right to return the loan package. In this case Ms. **** was able to secure her loan through ORNL. We did not charge her for gap. She would have to get the Gap from ORNL if she wants her loan protected. We will be addressing ORNL for what some random employee said to a mutual customer.Review from Denisha H

I bought a car from ole Ben Franklin back in January and was told I had to put down 3500. I was put on a “credit building program” for 6 months and was told I could come back and get a car after paying an additional 400 a month. So when I went back last week I was told my payments wasn’t being reported to my credit. I was put in a 2000 exterra, a 2001 Chevy impala and now I’m in a 2013 Chrysler 200 that has no ac and the window doesn’t go down. Still no license plate and it’s been 6 months. The whole situation has been a complete runaround. I’ve asked them plenty of times to put me in something more reliable for me and my son but still no help. I’ve run out of patience. I will never send anywhere here for a car and I damn sure won’t go back. If I could give zero stars I would. Definitely the worst experience I’ve ever had with any car dealership! $7000 taken away from a single mother. Yep that’s sad!Ole Ben Franklin Motors, Inc. Response

We have notified the credit bureau twice to get this account listed on her credit report. Her tag has been at T & M waiting for her to pick it up. The General Manager has fixed things for Ms. Hester in the past. When she came in to trade she did not mention that anything was wrong with the vehicle. They did get her approved on a vehicle with $1000.00 down. We were wiping off the payoff to assist her. She did not want to put $1000 down which was a requirement of the bank that approved her.Review from Haleigh E

I bought a car from the old ben Franklin in oakridge they over priced the car and gave it to me with transmission issues and told me not to worry about it when I asked them about the engine light and the abs light being on they told me not to worry about it and now it has been slipping gears and not wanting to shift properly then I went to o Reily and they found about 4 transmission codes plus 1 brake code and then went back to them to show them the codes that o Reily found and they didn’t even want to look at the codes they said they had to do it themselves and they scheduled an appointment for them to look at it and wanted me to leave the car with them. They kept asking if I needed a ride home that they could give me one home and I kept trying to explain to them that a ride home wasn’t the problem it was being about to get back a forth to work and they still kept saying that they couldn’t do anything for me so now I am stuck with a car with transmission issuesReview from Trevon D

Ole Ben Franklin on ( Kingston pike ) sold me a 2016 ford focus with transmission faults (they knew it had these faults) they cleared all the codes the car was giving and sold it to us ! Within 10 days of having the car the engine light comes on . I called them and they told me they couldn’t do anything about it . then 2 weeks later me , my pregnant wife & my 10 month old son we’re driving in Alcoa traffic and the transmission locked up on us and almost caused us to rear end another car , I had no choice but to coast the car up a curb into a parking lot of a business. I called ole Ben Franklin about it , they sent out a tow truck and they took my car to Budget transmission so someone could look at it .. the transmission shop verified that it was 100% a transmission failure. The warranty company (zurich) has came out to inspect the problem themselves 3 separate times and they also confirmed it was a transmission failure. They have relayed these messages to ole Ben Franklin , they are refusing to give us a rental car , we have been without a car for 2 weeks now and its going to be about 3 more weeks untill they can fix my car and get it back to me . We are a full time working family with 3 kids and we are stuck without a car and a rental car because they refuse to get us a rental car or a spare car off their lot . We are hiring a lemon law lawyer and going from there !Review from Daniel F

My wife went in with those bogus "claim your prize" things that came in the mail. She called me saying they wanted to talk to me. Some guy said she was interested in a program for a new car so he took my information. When he gave my wife her phone back she told me she never said she was interested, she kept trying to leave and they kept ignoring her and begging her to talk to me. They COMPLETELY LIED to me and ran my credit under false pretenses! I will NEVER do business here!!!Review from Judy G

I purchased a car from the Knoxville location in 11/22. It has been serviced 5 times since I've purchased the car. I was sold a lemon. 3 turbocharger replacement, 1 oil pump replacement, gear shift cable and now they're saying I need my engine replace. The car was over priced and now I'm stuck with this car, because what I owe on it, is thousands of dollars over the value of the car. When I went to this dealership with the intention to purchase a car this car was pushed on my by the salesman " Frank". He knew my circumstances, that I was disabled and didn't have a lot of money for a down payment, So, this particular car he insisted that it would work for me. He took advantage of my circumstances. He sold me a lemon. I don't see how this dealership sleeps at night. The service department is even worse. Beware customer of all the scams.
