I took my car in for an inspection and oil change. The fellow came in and told me he had done the oil change, but couldnt do the inspection because my car wouldnt start. Strange since I drove it there with no problem, he mentioned a noise they heard when they initially moved my car inside garage. I had never heard the noise. He said the problem was I need a new water pump and serpentine belt. The cost would be $1700.00. I called my son, and he talked to the mechanic, interesting enough the cost amazingly changed from $1700.00 down to $1200.00 including oil change and inspection.I truly believe they were trying to take advantage of an 81 year old lady. My son and I are both very upset that they would try and ***** an ***** lady. We did not have it fixed there. We have gotten two more estimates for the pump and belt and both are below $1000.00.Beware of using ************************* on *********************.Driver's Edge Response

12-12-23,Horrible experience,Before we get started, I also filed a complaint with DPS.**.GOV It's time for my vehicle Inspection so I chose *************************, **** ***************, **********, **. While I was waiting a tech approached my saying, your oil is dirty, we can change the oil, plus the vehicles windshield wiper blade is torn, we can replace that for you, you will have to buy from us, so after exchanging words he tells me you can go to Wal Mart and buy one, install it, bring the car back and we will re-test it, however, we can't pass the vehicle, meaning I can't renew my tag for ****. Road Runner tested my car, everything passed except a tiny tear not even a inch long located at the very end of the wiper blade. I personally believe the tech peeled it back so I would have to purchase a new wiper blade from Road Runner, also add an oil change. Put it this way, if it was pouring down rain and I was using my wipers, I clearly would have been able to see out my front wind shield to operate my vehicle. After all this they wanted my to pay $25.00 fee for a failed inspection because of a tiny tear in a wiper blade. I was a little heated by this time, paid the money, then I was told, within 14 days if I change out the blade Road Runner would re-test the vehicle, meaning, now I would have to come back and deal with dishonesty and be concerned for the safety of my vehicle, that nothing is tampered with. We will not be back!Driver's Edge Response

Hello *****, A vehicle safety inspection is conducted to ensure that each vehicle registered in the state is compliant with the minimum standards for operating safely on public streets and highways. A properly maintained vehicle is safer, performs better, uses fuel more efficiently, and saves money. In regard to your complaint, your windshield wipers were inspected along with your windshield to ensure that they were not streaking or otherwise failing to keep the windshield clear. It should be noted that your vehicle must have operational windshield wipers in order to pass inspection. After speaking with both the store manager and the state inspector, we are able to confirm that this was a legitimate failure. We understand your frustration and would be pleased to discuss this issue with you in more detail. We have attempted to contact you directly but have been unsuccessful in reaching you. Please contact us at **************** or ************ so that we can discuss and resolve your concerns.Sincerely, Sun ******************Review from Douglas X

I got my car towed to this shop after my battery died. I requested a new battery, to which they called me saying I needed a new starter and two new battery cables, not a battery. They quoted me a ridiculous price point of $1,105 to do this, but because they had a good rating on ******* I agreed thinking they would get the job done right.I come to pick up the car and it does not start correctly. Thinking this is symptomatic of them changing the battery cables, I let it charge for a couple of minutes and restarted my car. It starts fine so I leave. 45 minutes later, I turn my car on and it is not starting correctly again. I called them and they told me to bring it in tomorrow. The next day as I bring my car in, the whole vehicle shutters and now the car won't go above 30 MPH. This has NEVER happened with my car. I bring it back to them and not only do they say the problems are completely unrelated to what they already did, they wanted me to replace sensors in my car for an extra $400. Specifically, the mechanic told me "A doctor can tell if you're sick today, but not tomorrow!", someone should tell him that doctors check for symptoms- something they clearly did not.I took my car to a DIFFERENT mechanic, who was able to fix it without replacing any sensors whatsoever. He determined that my entire problem in the first place was caused by NEEDING A NEW BATTERY and that basically destroyed my car by continuously restarting and jumping the internal computer. Driver's Edge scammed me and then tried to scam me again before I realized what they were doing. The fact that a different mechanic within 2 miles was able to determine the problem within a day is a testament to how shady their business practice is.
