Tried to contact customer support for the ******************** media streaming company on behalf of the church that uses it. During the course of the conversation the cost service person tried to access my personal financial information in what he said was to identify who I was and verify that I was who I claimed yo be. I asked why he needed me personal info when I was representing a church, that is paying for the service he ask why I was concerned. Told him I was uncomfortable with him wanting my personal info when it had nothing to with the corporate account. He then became indignant and told me to end the call because I was being unreasonable and they had millions of customers just like me and that I called him so he is not the scammer and I was. We are a mental health related charity named Bipolar ********* located in ******, *********. We just discovered a fraudulent transaction: USD190 equivalent to AUD281.59 unlawfully taken from our bank account today, 23 June 2023, by RESTREAM, **** notwithstanding our formal written Notice to them dated 21/06/2023 (Annexure B), expressly and specifically notifying our intention to not renew any annual subscription, which they acknowledged in writing (Annexure B).Initial Complaint

Dear Better Business Bureau team,I had purchased an yearly subscription from Restream.io in November, ******************************************************************************* the middle of 2022. I did not realize at the time of paying that Restream.io is going to automatically charge me for another year of subscription after the term ends. I realized on November 4th 2022 that Restream charged my Chase credit card ending ******* for the amount of $190.00, charged on November 2nd 2022. Within 2 days of them charging my card, I used Restream's Support chat function (their only contact option) and asked for a refund for the automatic payment that was not obvious to me when I subscribed a year ago. Most companies would refund the amount, or at least partial refund, if called with such a request within a week. But Restream.io chose to forward me to their subscription cancellation page and agreement with greyed out contract of autopayment every year, which seem to be a form of extorting customers as most people won't read such greyed out texts. Restream.io does not have a customer care number to call or complain about. I realize that I might not be the only one in such nefarious extortion situation due to inappropriate business practices of subtle auto-subscription like this. So, I thought of reporting to get some help for myself and possibly others who are in the same boat as me. Thanks for considering my case.Best,***************************Customer response

Thank you for listening to and considering my complaint.
The company, Restream.io reimbursed me with the amount they automatically deducted from my card.
Because they served me right, although it took some effort, I would like to cancel my complaint as I want to be as fair to them as possible.

I have not used the service since last June and they billed me for another year. I was not aware they would do that and since I have not used their service the obvious right thing to do is to refund the money.Business response

Hello there,
Thank you for your message. The customer in this situation is responsible to manage their subscription at our website. The customer can cancel the auto-renewal anytime (even after just paying for a month or year subscription) to prevent future payments. Restream offers this requirement in the Terms of Use offered during the subscription process and also at our website at https://restream.io/terms-of-service. Restream puts the responsibility of account management in the hands of the subscriber as is traditional with all subscription services. Here is the steps to cancel the subscription.
