I contacted ****'s list on 12/20/22 because I needed by dryer vents cleaned out because my clothes were not drying. **** sent my information to several companies, and *** contacted right away, I was told that the cost to clean the vent would be $79, but if the technician had to go on the roof it would be $99. The price was agreeable and an appointment was scheduled for today, December 21, 2022, between 10 am and 12 pm. She said ***** would be my technician. ***** said as soon as he arrived, " I am going to tell you right away. A job like is going to cost anywhere between $170 to $220 if I have to unclog anything." Or something like that. I was shocked and said repeated what I was told. He said something that I don't recall. I did not argue. When he finished he told me I owened him $270. Needlessly to say, I was shocked, but I wrote a check to *** for that amount. Feeling doped, I researched the cost after he left and discovered that the going price for dryer vent cleaning is $99 if the dryer unit is on the first floor, $139 if the dryer unit is on the 2nd floo, and $169 if the unit is on the roof. My dryer unit is on the first floor near the garage. ***** brought in tools that resembles snakes plumbers use to unclog toilets. He used those tools to pull the lint out the lint, and he used a drill. He said he removed a seal so that the list go go out side, but he never went on the roof. The job took no longer that 30 or 40 minutes to complete. I feel duped and I believe that he overcharged me over a $100 dollars.

First we would like to apologize for any misunderstandings or for any inconveniences we may have caused the customer.
After talking with ************** we learned that they were extra services that were done to the dryer in addition to the regular cleaning
      1) The tunnel that connects the back of the dryer to the wall
was too long and need to be shortened.
      2) We fixed the screen on the roof.
      3) The dryer was in a very bad condition and was clogged.
The customers put a stop payment on the check.
We reached out to the customer and we provided her with an additional discount. She ended up paying $187.

      Thank you,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I don't agree with all the extra work the technician claimed he did. Yes, the dryer was clogged. she asked me what did I want to pay. I said that after investigating I discovwered that a job like that cost $99 if on the first floor, $139 if on the 2nd flooer and $169 if on the roof. she said I could pay $169 plus tax and the cost to pay with a debit card. I paid a total of $189. Still too much for what he did, but I am satisfied.
