North Texas Solar oversold the capabilities of our solar system that it is not capable of. We previously had panels installed by NTS. After a year we described our need for either additional panels or backup batteries to Jake. He suggested a free at night electric plan and described a capability for the system to switch between power sources (grid, panels, and battery) dependent on the time of day and price of electricity. Upon install his team worked for weeks to set up the software capability described, but were unable because the ******* software does not currently function in this manner. Due to him not knowing the capabilities of the product he was selling, we installed 2 batteries that now require us to manually change modes in the app 3 times a day. If we do not switch the mode in the app it costs us money by using electricity from the grid in lieu of our solar panels or batteries.

We were holding final payment for the battery install until the software issue was resolved and system 100% functional. Upon learning from Jake that the system automation was not possible as sold, we were asked for final payment with a 2% discount for our troubles.

We informed Jake that this solution was not acceptable. He then told us that the system worked, although not as we understood that it would and that it was a miscommunication between us and him. He also informed us that if we did not make final payment he would have a lien placed on our home.

We have spoken with ******* and there are currently no app updates in the future to address this function. Jake however has said is will be resolved in January (8 months after install).

I would not recommend anyone use North Texas Solar. They are not properly educated on their product (an issue we are addressing with ******* as North Texas Solar is an authorized retailer).

Solar is a great investment but you must also ensure that the equipment you purchase will enable you to recoup your investment.

We had a misunderstanding when your husband asked us for a quote for additional solar panels to accommodate a "free nights" plan. We thought you only wanted the "free nights" plan if additional solar was added. When you asked for a battery quote to store your excess power on-site, we said batteries would be a great solution. After installation we learned of the misunderstanding and began to do everything possible to help the situation.

We are pleased to say that after much discussion with your manufacturer, they have agreed to write a new program that allows your system to operate exactly how you have asked. To take responsibility for our part in the misunderstanding, we have also given you a cash discount. We apologize again for the misunderstanding, and we are happy to see that the system is going to provide the benefits you were hoping for.

Update, after 5 months with the system installed and nearly 4 months since the guarantee of a new program operating system (" We are pleased to say that after much discussion with your manufacturer, they have agreed to write a new program that allows your system to operate exactly how you have asked.") we have yet to have any changes make to our solar system. We still have to change the operating program twice a day manually. North Texas Solar has not followed up with us or followed through with the manufacturer promise.
