On 10/5/2024 my vehicle was towed from my apartment complex. A driver of the tow company stated we were told not to touch your truck so unsure why it got towed anyways. When he requested another driver to bring it back, he said no and hung up. The company stated I needed to pick it up on my own. After police were called, then they said they would pick me up and take me to my vehicle. After 30 minutes of waiting and calling me from a No Caller ID number, they never showed. I called repeatedly until they answered and was then told we will take it back to you but it will take some time. The company did eventually bring it back, but according to Texas Laws this is a wrecker ordinance violation and it is illegal to touch my vehicle when this company failed to follow the procedures before towing. Once my vehicle was at the lot, they admitted that the parking sticker was on my windshield, and also noted that if the tow driver checked my plates, I was indeed in their system as a resident. As an BBB F rated company, this company needs to get their act together or should lose their license to operate! On top of that, I have emailed and tried to seek paperwork on the time and why my vehicle was towed, as well as a written apology for wrongfully towing my vehicle. I want that paperwork!Customer response

The company did reach out personally and provided a tow ticket. They did not formally provide an apology but did admit to false tow.Initial Complaint

We parked at the ****************** outside of the gated parking where there are NO towing signs. We were towed within 15 minutes of parking. They have also towed my friends car and a food delivery truck. They are scam artists preying on people. One of the cars was even registered when it was towed. The final straw was them towing the food delivery persons car who had parked for 5 MINUTES outside of the gated parking.Initial Complaint

This company preys on the uneducated and poor, anyone without a smartphone has no ability to submit an online permit. It disgusts me that a company like this is legal and not simply a government agency. I understand the need for tow trucks but towing college students and people without access to internet should be criminal. Older individuals with little tech knowledge and people without smartphones have less of a chance to complete the required permitting resulting in a whopping $200 fee or risk entrapping their property inside closed gates.Business response

Everything we do is already regulated by the state (TDLR) and under Denton city ordinance. You dont have to have a smart phone to register your vehicle or use any of our software. Its all online and it actually takes very little tech knowledge. It actually takes way more technical knowledge to file your complaint with bbb (which requires internet) than it does to register a vehicle! We follow all state and local laws!Initial Complaint

On The Road Again Towing (********************************************) towed my car from ************************* late Sunday night 5/12/24 or Monday morning 5/13/24, stating that I didn't have a parking permit. I did have the parking permit and we both have photos to prove it. The problem is that they stole my car and I missed a day at work over it, I had to spend several hours to find out where the car was, and to walk to get it. There is no excuse for them stealing an expensive piece of equipment that directly facilitates my livelihood.Due to the towing company's theft of my car (it was unlawful), their seemingly intentional lack of communication, (no one told me or the apartment it had been towed) and for effort put into the vehicle's recovery and loss of time at work, this situation has cost me hundreds of dollars, even though they "gave it back to me for free" those are the wreckers words.I would also like to add, there is certainly a reason why the towing company didn't mention a three year old car had been towed, the place was likely planning on chopping it up and selling it for parts. That is very illegal.Initial Complaint

This business has been illegally towing cars in ****** for several years with absolutely corrupt policies that are made to protect them. The ***************** have their hands so far down their pockets that they wont address their activities. They tow cars that havent even been there for 10 minutes AND THEY DONT LEAVE ANY SIGNS!! THERE IS NEVER ANY SIGNS SAYING THAT YOU WILL BE TOWED. It says that there MUST BE VISIBLE SIGNAGE THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE LOT. WE ONLY FOUND A SIGN AFTER WALKING AROUND FOR 20 MINUTES. They are absolutely the worst people, they specifically target LOW INCOME AREAS FOR THEIR TOWS SO THAT PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY AND THEN THEY GET CHARGED FOR ADDITIONAL DAYS. ITS PREDATORY AND WRONG!!!Business response

We follow all state laws and local ordinances. We have signage at all entrances of every property which is the state law and city ordinance requirements. Depending on the property and the rules of the property there are also signage in visitor areas and other parts of the property. Fell free to file a tow hearing and dispute the tow which is the process if you think you were illegally there towed. As far as us having the police in our pocket Im not even responding to that because thats absurd and doesnt make any sense. Towing is regulated by TDLR not the police.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: There was no signage on every entrance to the parking lot! You sir are a liar and a fool and I will be looking forward to seeing you in court so I can appeal. Im not sure why you would lie about the signage even though its clear as day that your two women who literally looked like a 17 year old bald girl was heading back and forth to this lot, very predatory behavior for absolutely ********** around. You do not follow all state and local ordinances, that is also a lie. You are a crooked thief and a criminal. You will get your punishment one day, you people always get your Due.Business response

Your response of name calling and talking about peoples physical appearance speaks for itself. I will not respond any further. There are signs at every entrance of every property we tow from. Have a nice dayInitial Complaint

This is a towing company that sits and waits for you to get out of your car and ties it immediately. I registered my car, yet they still towed it and refuse to give it back u til I paid $199.33 on 1/25/23. There are many complaints about this company doing the same thing to many others on this site ****************************************************************************************************************************************** These people are scammers!Business response

We absolutely do not sit and wait for anybody to park and walk away from the car. We enforce the rules of the property. If we come through the property and your car is not registered then it gets towed which is why you have to follow the rules and register the vehicle before you walk away from it. There are signs at every property. Sorry you feel this way but you assumption is just not true. Follow the rules of the property and you will never get towed.Initial Complaint

On Saturday December 9th of 2023 at ********************** apartments, around 8am I woke up to my Truck being gone. My friend had to drop me off because I had an important test to take. After my test my friend and I reached out to the towing company and recieved information that it would be $180 to retrieve my vehicle even though it was registered under the correct application. Once arriving at the towing company grounds the price was not $180 anymore but a $215. The owner claimed to have fees and other things that attributed to a higher price. When asked about why this was not disclosed before and how we could lower it I was given no explanation. I was told thay paying cash would be cheaper, but I do not live in ****** area to get cash and I was on a tight schedule. No extra fees or anything were posted, shown or disclosed prior to arriving and when questioned nothing was explained. My vehicle was not even there for 24 hours. I just want the "extra fees" taken off because I was lied to. As well as all prices being disclosed when speaking to a customer.Business response

The prices we charge are regulated by the ******************** and storage fee goes up after the vehicle has been at our yard for at least 12 hours and a new calendar day. There is a 3.5% credit card processing fee. So when you called the price was ****** and when you came to pick it up it was past 12 hours and a new calendar day so our computer system automatically charges according the city ordinance. We follow all state and local ordinances.Initial Complaint

10/20/23 I arrived in my rented *********** Colorado to The Lights apt complex in ****** ** and parked in Visitor parking. I carried my groceries upstairs making several trips. On my last trip downstairs my vehicle had been towed. I immediately called the towing company listed 'On the Road again' and asked them to provide confirmation they had my vehicle fearing it had been stolen. It took the dispatch several minutes to determine they had my vehicle in route. When I asked if I could meet them wherever they were to avoid paying impound fees they refused and informed me once It has left the scene it must be picked up from the lot due to corporate policy and I would have to pay the total of $187 to retrieve my vehicle. Upon arrival I attempted to pay immediately and they refused saying it had not been in put into the system yet since it had just arrived. I was under the impression at this time they may be willing to surrender my car and while waiting to confirm my rental agreement was aggressively confronted by general manager ****. He claimed I had stated that I lived at the lights and was not on the lease so I would not be *********** unpaid release. I clarified that I was just staying for the night and that it seemed like unethical excessive inforcement alongside the likelihood that they had seen me carrying groceries to and from. He then threatened to report me as an unregistered resident in the apartment number I was visiting and personally insulted me stating I shouldn't be living off others leases. In total they had my vehicle 40 minutes. I called before they even had my truck in the lot and they went out of the manager went out of his way to be as unpleasant as possible.Initial Complaint

A visitor car was towed from ********************************* *** ****. The towing company (*** towing llc dba on the road again) was completely unreasonable. The employee lied and told me the last time my car was submitted was February 9th and my car wasn't in the system. I told her that's impossible considering you can only submit the car if the apartment number is correct, and the last 4 digits of the owner's number. Once submitted there is no way changing it. I told her maybe i made a mistake typing in the license plate but the model is definitely correct. She followed up with "yeah you did, but if every character on your plate isn't correct there is nothing we can do about it." ************ is scandalous with poor customer service. There also isn't any second verification before you submit, yet no one bothered to reason with me.Business response

We follow all state laws and city ordinances. The towing industry is regulated by the ***** department of licensing and regulation and we follow all regulations set by them. The consumer admits in the complaint that they did not enter the correct tag number when they registered there car. This is a rule that we are contracted to enforce by the property. We know that nobody likes to get there car towed but our business did nothing unethical or against the law.
