Sales by bills was retained to facilitate the state sale on my behalf following the sudden death of my eldest daughter and my wife. The burden was emotionally more than I was able to handle, and during the most grief stricken traumatic period of our lives. This company for all intents and purposes, robbed our home of everything we owned, and has not paid me at all the listed value of items sold were an excess of $100,000 however after reconciliation of receipts, the true value of all of these items Was over $1 million. He refuses to answer my phone calls emails or any attempts of communication. The hardship that this has placed on not only myself, but my other daughter is indescribable. There were so many things that were simply taken at a price tag couldn't be put on and not only did he steal money and property but he stole our memories and connections to my wife and my daughter. And we have receipts for over $100,000 worth of items that were not even listed as part of the estate sale, including several ********** items such as a grand piano, large appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, etc. jewelry and clothes he should not be permitted to conduct business, and violate people in the manner in which he did, and I will except nothing less than financial restitution or file, criminal and civil charges for grand larceny.Customer response

On 11/28/22, ***** Bales and his associate loaded up their truck with all of my mother's possessions from her 3 bedroom, 3 bath home. She had moved to a retirement home and ***** agreed to put all her furniture, antiques and household items up for sale at his gallery in **********. It took him almost three months to get us an inventory list but we have had zero updates and he ignores our emails, calls and texts. So here we are almost six months later and there is no evidence he has advertised the items or sold them and meanwhile our mother is asking what is the status of her things and will she ever get a check.Initial Complaint

Its such a difficult time when you lose a parent and there is a lot of arrangements that need to be made, one of which is liquidating this persons life assets. Every single item has sentimental value. We hired ********************************* (Sales by Bales) to handle our estate liquidation. It took place almost a year ago late May 2022. The contract was with Sales by Bales but he posted it on another ******** site Absolute Treasures Sales. After the sale ***** and a small crew did come back to help with item removal as promised but most of the approximately 3 hours was spent loading up sold customer items into the ***** and by 3PM they were gone. The two garages and the home itself had many valuable items. The trailer my dad had was gone and that was not to be sold. He took $600 cash from a neighbour who bought a shed we sold separately. He then completely ghosted ** without a word. We tried repeated attempts through email and voice mail but NO response. I think he figured he could get away with not paying ** a cent as I am from ****** and the other Executor was from out of town. We left this almost a full year to allow a fair period of time for him to sell everything but we didnt want this theft to go unnoticed. We are taking legal action now and wanted others to know what happened to ** and to avoid dealing with this man or his company.Initial Complaint

I contracted with the owner of Sales by Bales to hold an estate sale of most of my possessions, as I was selling my house to move to a tiny home. He was to provide an accounting and a check within 15 days of the sale, which ended mid-November 2022. As of March 2, 2023, there has been no accounting and no payment despite numerous promises to provide those. I finally had an attorney send him a letter, asking for payment by **** 31, 2023. I have not heard from the owner since Dec. 16. By my estimate, he owes me at least $3,000.Initial Complaint

My wife and I hired ***** B**** to sell my father-in-law's estate. He has lived in this house for the past 40 years. ***** sold his life's material possessions in three days and had never paid us for the sale of his items. He communicated fairly well leading up to the estate sale. Afterward, he said it would take three weeks to get me a check. 3 weeks? The next week I called and said that there is NO reason it should take that long and we want our payment. He said he would have it in the mail in a few days. It's been over two weeks since we talked, still no payment. I have called him three times and texted many times and there is no response. I have threated him over text with legal actions (which I will take) and still no response. I have given him opportunities to make this right. No response. I should have looked into this fraudulent business better. My bad.Business response

Consumer Response /* (2000, 6, 2022/10/31) */ Hello. I want to inform BBB Complaints that my issues has been resolved. ***** ***** finally sent us the payment for the estate sale he managed. It took a little legal pressure but he paid up. However, his communication was horrible. I had a lawyer friend to communicate with him. Mr. ***** never communicated with me one that he was preparing the check or that the check was in the mail. All he had to do was reply to my texts and emails to say he was taking care of things. Nonetheless, the file is now closed. Please close this complaint account. **** ******** ************
