We signed the contract April 10, 2024 for Ideal floors to install rectified tiles in our home. The amount for this particular project was $16,965.36. Unfortunately the mapei ultra color plus grout has effervescences (white color instead of grey) and is not flush with the tile (required for the flush finish). We specifically spent almost $5K more on the rectified tile so that it would be flush so that it would be easier to clean. According to the manufacturer the effervescences and the crevice is from over washing in the final stage of installation. And that you CAN NOT just add more grout to the floor. Additionally, there are holes in the grout along with moderate variations in the color of the grout. Attached is just one of many correspondence documented that you CAN NOT just ADD grout. ( website resource discussing the effervescence from over washing ************************************************************************************************************************************************)Ideal floors wants the contractor who installed it wrong, to try for the first time to painstakingly score, this very fragile tile and then re-grout. Their plan is replace broken tiles as they go. Initially we were told that the installation would take 5 days, then it took almost two weeks working Sundays and till 9pm. We were told this fix will day 2-3 days, but we know from working with this company we would be really out of a home with 3 pets for much much longer due to the difficulty of this project. Plus the manufacture says NOT TO DO THIS. I have asked for Ideal floors to tell me in writing their warranty and Mapei that scoring the grout will suffice. Mapei will not do this and Ideal Floors has edged this conversation out of the agreement.
