I lost a significant amount of money patronizing BrakeTime Mobile Auto Repair. I paid the owner $400 + a $75 tip to install a water pump on a high-end vehicle. This individual replaced the inoperable water pump and decided to replace the thermostat under his own volition. I have trusted this individual in the past (I have given him thousands of dollars in business and welcomed him to my home and my Fire Station as if he was my own family) - his work has always been guaranteed, so I had no reason to believe that this fix would go any different from the past times I have him to service this vehicle. Within the following few days, I ended up on the side of the tollway with an overheating vehicle. After two tows - one to my residence, the other to a different mechanic - and $1300 later, another mechanic determined that the owner/operator from BrakeTime Mobile Auto Repair, had needlessly replaced the original thermostat on my vehicle with a subpar thermostat (known for failure) from the local auto parts store. They also determined that the system had not been properly bled of air in the system during the initial work performed by BrakeTime, which resulted in lesser than ideal conditions for the vehicle. After contacting the owner/operator, he stated he would come check on my vehicle the morning after the tow to see what went wrong. Never happened. He also stated that he would honor his workmanship guarantee and reimburse the $475 that I paid him for the initial fix. Never happened. I disputed the payment via my bank only to receive notification via mail that he had contested my dispute. All things considered, I paid BrakeTime Mobile Auto Repair $475 to install a water pump on a vehicle that simply needed a new water pump. The routine job wasn't done properly, so, I ended up paying an additional $1300 in tows and repairs to mitigate the subpar condition in which BrakeTime Mobile Auto Repair left my vehicle. Desired Outcome: refund of $475 for failed repair and parts
