Firefly Electric is also known as Mr. ****** Electric. This company is fraudulent and threatening, using elderly abuse to make us feel we owe them pay for a contract that we never signed and haven't agreed to. They sent us an estimate that we forwarded to our insurance company along with estimates from two other electricians. Firefly/******'s estimate included false statements: they said:"...Customer endured an extremely bad surge, which caused damage to the customers home electrical equipment. Customer stated all of the electronics in the home or defective or damaged requiring replacement. The homeowner moved out of the home because the home was unlivable..." That is totally untrue - we never said anything like that., we never moved out of our home because of electric damage. We only said we had replaced our air conditioner and it had needed repair two years later.Firefly/Sparky contacted our insurance company without our permission, learned how much the insurance company will pay us, and sent us a threatening message telling us we owe them to hire them for the job. They want half up front and would complete the job to receive full payment before CPS approves of it! We will not do business with them and may have to file a complaint with the State ************************* for elderly abuse. They sent us a bill of $1458.25 for their estimate, saying they change $291.65 per hour for visit and for estimate if the client does not hire them. There is no info regarding this charge anywhere on their site or on their estimate and they did not inform us of it until our insurance claim was accepted and we had hired a different company. Firefly is now sending emails and phone messages to me that have lies and threats for using legal action. I am a senior citizen with hearing disability- they claim I made a verbal agreement with their representative while talking outside. I did not agree to anything- just asked for an estimate.

Ma'am if you are going to leave a review it is helpful to leave an honest one.  Normally I would not waste time justifying such outlandish complaints, however I was advised to do so by the Better Business Bureau.

We are not and never were affiliated with Mr. ****** Electric.  Your source of information is incorrect. We are known for customer ********************** and professionalism that far exceeds what most companies offer and have never abused or threatened anyone to obtain business. We have hundreds of senior citizens in our customer data base and have never had a customer express anything but gratitude for the services and education we provide.

You asked us to put together an estimate and report for your insurance company so that you could obtain funds to pay for the damage on your electrical system. We showed up for free to your home.  We spent almost two hours with you listening to how bad your living conditions were when you had no air conditioning and about all the other issues you were having.  You had already contacted your insurance. We did a free diagnostic for you to assess the damage and come up with a plan for repair.  We took photos and video evidence.  You were educated on how the whole process works and you were told that we would do all of this work for you for free on a contingency that if our estimate was approved that we would be the contractor that does the work.

You were given this paperwork and told that if the estimate was not approved there would be no charge.  You were also told that if the estimate was approved and paid for by your insurance and you did not use our services that we would alert your insurance company and that there would be a charge for each hour spent on your report.  This is our policy because we have unfortunately had a few customers use our estimates to get large amounts of money from insurance and then use cheaper contractors or don't get the work done at all so they can pocket money. This is insurance fraud and we are very honest and up front about this before we build your report.  It is also listed on every estimate we send to every customer.

You sent our estimate to your insurance company.  If there were false statements in this report, why would you still send it to your adjuster to use it to get money? Also, the fact that your home was "unlivable" would not be necessary information in getting your claim approved. Therefore, it would not make sense for a technician to add it into the report.  Also, we know that the adjusters contact our customers and we would not make up a false statement to give an impression that things are worse than they are that a customer would have to verify. We don't need to be dishonest nor would we be even if it did help with a claim.

Your adjuster contacted us.  We never reached out to your insurance. He informed us that he had approved our estimate and ours alone.  He did not even mention that he had any other estimates from you. He went on to thank us for the detail and effort put into our report. So I am not sure why you thought we contacted them "without your permission".  The first time we reached back out to them was to inform them that you chose to get the money and use a cheaper contractor, which you told us.

We sent you a bill for 5 hours which is the time we spent on your claim.  Per your contract. We alerted your insurance company to the situation per your contract.  We also told you to just be honest with your insurance adjuster and to send them the estimate from the contractor you chose so he could adjust the claim and remove us from it. We stated in the email we sent you that we would drop the bill down by at least 50 percent if your adjuster confirmed that you were honest.  You followed that email up with this embellished and false review.  We made several attempts to contact you to see if there was anything we didn't understand or if there was some confusion.

Many people hear about our success with helping people and not having to charge them up front and we have been able to help countless customers by getting surge and lightning damage covered by their insurance due to our years of experience working with insurance companies. It is our goal to provide this service on a contingency that we get the work if approved to help those in need. Unfortunately some people try to take advantage of this service and do and say dishonest things. There are also some who don't fully understand or pay attention to what is said, what is in the paperwork, or how the process works which is why we made several attempts to contact you before reaching this conclusion.  If you would like to discuss this situation and the bill and you have been honest with your insurance company we would be happy to discuss a bill reduction as promised.

More lies- we hired Mr. ****** from ****'s- his car had a Mr. ****** label. Mr. ******** website says service calls are $59, free with service.************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************ He never gave us any paperwork or discussed any of the policies or charges for estimates while he was with us. We received the estimate by email, again with no info regarding charges. The estimate and all the bills we received were from Firefly. We had never contacted Firefly. They contacted our insurance company, the insurance company did not call them. We have discussed this with our insurance representative several times. They claim the Mr ****** rep made a mistake on the estimate he wrote- spent five hours writing the $291.65/hr.Would you hire a company that makes a mistake spending 5 hours at $291.65 an hour writing an estimate?

I found a phone message from ************* dated Sept 21, 2023. The woman stated she was with Firefly Electric and asked if we would like to make an appointment, if we hadn't already. At the end of her message she said "...and our estimates are free!" This was a week before the appointment with the ************************************************************* did not mention any cost for an estimate and only sent us the $1,458.25 invoice for the estimate after we told them we had hired a different company.
