On December 5, 2023, Mr. ****** ****** agreed to remodel a bathroom in our home. He was to: *Remove existing standard shower floor only, rest of shower was already gutted, remove existing toilet & vanity. *Build a standard shower, install ceramic tile on the walls & floor of the standard shower, install new toilet & vanity. *Install ceramic tile on bathroom floor only. I was to supply all materials and choose the style & color of the ceramic tile, toilet & vanity. We were to pay him ********* total cost of labor over 4 payments, which we did. We chose white subway tile for the shower. When Mr. ****** saw the tile, he said we purchased the wrong type of tile, it needed to be ceramic, not porcelain & a larger tile. This was not our original plan but in order to help move the project along, we returned what we bought & chose another larger ceramic tile. As the tile began to go up, we brought it to his attention that the spacing looked uneven & also the tile was not level in many areas. He said that I was looking over his shoulders & if we would just let him do his job, we would be pleased with the finished product. When my wife saw the shower tile almost at completion, she told him that it did not look professional at all. He got into a verbal altercation with my wife twice during this project. He even commented to me that my wife must wear the pants in our house. All of the tilework is unprofessional. Even the grouting is sloppy. He assured us that he was a professional. The pictures will say it all. The grout has already started cracking, its missing in some spots. The edges of the tile step in area is dangerously sharp & would cut you if you rubbed against it with your bare skin. Lastly, he replaced the drainpipe to the shower from our kitchen ceiling. He ripped out the drywall with his hands rather than making clean cuts & the pipe is protruding below the ceiling line. There was no final clean up & he used our neighbor's trash can w/o their permission.

We are A.M.P construction LLC responding to this complaint. We offered to correct any mistakes that may have been done for the customer, but they never got back to us. The customers were present during the entire process and were able to stop us at any moment. We are willing to give back $*****, but we do not agree to rip out any work that has already been done and remove any debris. The main issue is that the customer did not like the tile they chose.

You and your wife were in the work process all the time I Did what you asked me if you are not  happy with the work, why did you make the last payment that means that you already had second intention. Your wife doesn't like the color or the ceramic tile  I don't have to pay for that  AS  I told you  I an willing to return  (* ******** * ** ****** each month)

We had another contractor come and do the demo of Mr. ******'s work. On top of what I could see as a non-professional, he spotted many errors with the work that was done. Attached are pictures of just a few.

*Zero Transfer - The contractor said the tiles did not have enough thin set to hold them to the walls. There should be at least 90% transfer of thin set. Our tiles only had the edges covered...approximately 10% transfer. The tiles would have eventually failed. They came off very easily.

*The transition strip was placed over the edge of the carpet, which attributed to the tile cracking at that particular area.

*The turn off valve was partially covered by the wall of the vanity and could not be used to turn the cold water off or on.

There were more things that he pointed out to me that were done incorrectly, however, we hope we have shown you enough to see that there was no way to correct the problems with this bathroom, the only solution was a complete tear out and do over.

This bathroom has cost us at least double in labor and materials because of Mr. ******'s negligence and unprofessional work. We are expecting, at the least, all of our money back to help compensate for his unethical behavior and substandard workmanship.
