I had my fence redone with quality built exteriors. Rich came our very quick after calling the office and really gave me a quote in-line with a lot of the other companies but he took the time to explain the additional installation steps that they hold their installers to. We wanted to write a follow up review after being extremely happy with our work from Quality Built Exteriors. We had our roof replaced, gutters with gutter guards, vinyl fascia, friezes and soffit replacement 10 years ago. Everything still looks wonderful and we have a great warranty to back it! This company is a very responsible, neat, attentive to your needs, with quality work, very reasonable, and quick to respond. We easily could recommend them to our friends and neighbors. Actually, I recommended Mike at Quality on Monday of this week and he was here on Wednesday. He helped my neighbor and us with house questions. Wow, great support and customer satisfaction. There are way too many complaints to list. They won't provide a schedule. They hire what appear to be unskilled or barely trained subcontractors. They appear to try to avoid pulling permits in order to use uncertified workers. I was told by gen manager he wasn't pulling an HVAC permit because my existing ductwork would cause a failure. The first installer did a horrible job, used wall register boots instead of floor boots, didn't seal duct work properly and more. I complained and he sent another team. I complained again after the next guy who came out, who told me he wasn't certified. Finally, he sent a certified HVAC tech, who pulled a permit and did the work correctly. There are high and low spots in the floor they installed, because of uneven floor joists they installed. It took "9" attempts to paint and plaster the drywall they installed. It took 8 attempts to install 3 interior doors and one is still not right. 3 electrical face plates broke when I inserted plugs into the sockets. A fourth electrical box went all the way into the wall. I have a wall switch that goes nowhere. The entrance to the foundation was built below ground level and left open for months allowing water to flow under the house, even after I complained numerous times. They put plastic over the "wet" ground in the crawl space without cleaning up the sticks, broken concrete, metal hangers and other construction debris left behind. They were under the house more than ten times fixing defects they caused, and the termite sand called out in the plans/ drawings is still not installed correctly. There is mold and mildew already growing on all the untreated wood under the house. I have hundreds of pictures, texts and emails, supporting this narrative as well as numerous other problems. Every bit of rework was done after "I" inspected it. They do the bare minimum, don't inspect their subcontractors work and based on my experience they don't care about quality at all.Quality Built Exteriors Response

We missed the notification that this review had been posted here, but we did see and immediately reply to his review on our ******** page. Our response there is pasted below, and as an update, he did finally pay us and the matter is resolved. 3-27-24 Mr. ********, simply put, the issue with this home addition was you. You micromanaged every installer and painter we sent, literally standing over their shoulder and telling them how to do their job. It got to the point that our installers were refusing to return. At every step in the process, you demanded more and more, with our staff running circles trying to keep you satisfied. You complained the pocket door didn't operate properly, yet three different staff members came out separate times and you could not get the door to "act up" for them. We had six inspections completed and passed with the **** ** *********** We did lots of extra, free work on this project but it was never enough for you. The outcome of our efforts looks amazing, and we believe anyone who comes to your home will have nothing but compliments on this addition. You now are refusing to pay for the work, so we'll have to get lawyers involved.Review from Simon L

There is "NO QUALITY" about this company. We hired this company to build our fence on Oct 2022, the price is reasonable and the installer came on time to get the fence done. But less than 3 months later, one end of the post was wobbled and lose panels in multiple spots. They sent the technician to fix the issues. We met him on the spot and told this technician to redo the other end as the hole wasn't dig deep enough to withhold strong wind. But he insisted it was fine and won't fix if there is no issue. One year later the other end of the pole is now wobbling and we called Tom the Project Manager to come in to fix it. Tom said since it is out of one year warranty period, they won't come unless we need to pay his company at least ****** based the pictures we sent to them. We insisted the original installation wasn't done correctly but Tom refused to accept. Tom claimed this is the way they do business. They don't care much customer satisfaction or negative customer review posted online. This is the way Quality Built Exteriors to do business. We are upset but we learned the lesson by not study hard to find a quality builder.Quality Built Exteriors Response

We spoke with both the project coordinator, John, and the sales rep, Tom, about your statements. The short version of this is, no fence is completely storm-proof. Ours hold up extremely well to storms, especially compared with other builders’ because we go the extra mile. But when you get our area’s recent storm of 70mph+ winds, which is what knocked down your fence, you need to realize that the term “storm damage” exists for a reason. Storms cause damage. We dug all your posts to the correct depth, except for one where your home’s foundation stuck out to that point and prevented us digging any deeper. We explained this to you the first time you called us out. We had our crew take the additional steps of securing the post TO the concrete of your foundation, which further secured it. This held up to many adverse weather conditions since that time, and it took wind over 70mph to damage it, which says a lot about the quality of our work. You can contact your homeowners’ insurance if you want storm-related repairs to be covered.Review from Arrann B

I spoke to ***** about balcony repair. He came out, showed great customer service and I gave him the paperwork sent to me by my association that showed all requirements.
It seemed promising and he said he would be in touch with my the week of September 6. I don't hear frim him and end up messaging him September 12th. He ignores my text so I have to call the office to ask for an update on my project (mind you I let him know the deadline given by the association). He sends me a text the following day, September 13th with a vague response about waiting for the codes dept to determine costs. Ive had four other contractors give me an estimate the day of/next day.
As a single women homeowner, it's hard being respected and taken seriously by men that come in to work on my condo. ***** proved to me that this will be a consistent struggle and that my money is not good enough for him.

They took forever to schedule the exterior after we paid in full. Then, the interior worker kept rescheduling. They never replaced the drywall as initially promised- just fill it in and painted. The shingles don't match. Hand print Tar stains left all over our siding. To top it off, we have a new leak right where they supposedly fixed.Quality Built Exteriors Response

We are perplexed by this review, as while some of these assertions were true right after the job was finished, we immediately repaired/cleaned for item the customer was unhappy with. The drywall complaint is the bewildering one though, as we actually had called in a drywall expert to do that work, rather than one of our general contractors, and when our sales rep, Tom, came out to see the work, he was amazed at the level of quality (you couldn't even tell where the repair had been). The reason no drywall was cut away was because when the expert arrived, he recommended a different way of repairing it that would be more seamless. The homeowner agreed to this, and by all accounts, the result was flawless. However, the homeowner felt that because this appeared to involve less work, they had overpaid for the repair (the contract mentioned cutout and removal). We sent another worker out to cut away the perfect repair just to match the work to the original work order as she wanted, but he, too, saw how good it looked and told the homeowner that a cut-and-replace would have four visible seams. So the homeowner again agreed to leave it that way. Then the homeowner called Tom because there was a smudge on her ceiling, which she was certain meant a leak. Tom assured her there was no way it was leaking, and that the smudge was probably just a missed cleanup from a hand or elbow of the workman. He offered to come put Kilz over it as a safeguard, but she said no, she wanted to just leave the one-star review and wait a long time to see if the ceiling leaked. So far she has not been able to tell us it was leaking. The one-star review remains though. We can't think of anything else we can do, or could have done.Review from Mel O

We have been waiting OVER TWO MONTHS for these people to fix the crappy fence they put in. They were supposed to be out here this week and the only thing they did was make a hole exposing a cracked pole. Lose panels everywhere, holes in panels, unlevel gates, hinges on gates are on upside down, it goes on.
Terrible company all around. Period. ** grand for this piece of **** fence!

We understand from your many posts that you are unhappy, and again, we're very sorry about that. There are only so many options available on a vinyl fence, especially on a freshly graded yard like yours. Our crew installed it as they would normally, and it was clearly not what you had in mind. As you know, our owner Mike has been out to see you this week, because he wants to do right by you. Even though it will involve pulling the fence back out, he wants to do everything to the best of his ability to meet your needs. He has even more experience than the installer, and knows a variety of solutions to what's bothering you with the fence, so we'll be handling that this week (weather permitting, as always when it comes to fences). The delay is because the owner thought this was being handled already, it was a miscommunication.Review from Shane C

Needed 2 sides of home re-sided & bathroom remodeled. Contract written & I decided to add a vent & an outlet. Instead of adding to contract they wrote a new one. I asked if home wrap was included with siding contractor said it was. Never installed. I was told a new mirror was hung in bathroom. I found out it wasn't. When I questioned it I was told they don't do mirrors...then why did you tell me a new one was hung? They left debris all over the yard front & back with nails sticking out of the wood. They claimed the scraps was not from them but scraps don't just appear out of nowhere. I informed contractor I would not be available & asked if my ** yr old son could advocate for me. They were fine with it until he started asking questions. He later complained through a ****** review & they reported him as fake then changed it "this is not our customer" My son paid *** of the cost & he has to live with THEIR WORK he is a customer. The owner came to the house treated him like he wasn't human. Arrogantly came into the home asking where the owner is knowing that I live out of state. He then claimed that the bathroom; the size of a walk in closet should have cost ******* to remodel. I was on the phone listening to this but the owner refused to talk to me on the phone. The answer to everything is that wasn't on the contract. They earned my trust & I signed the 2nd contract even though I couldn't read the small words trusting that everything we discussed was documented. They are good at how they write contracts to protect themselves from legal suits. Recommend a lawyer to review contract prior to signing. My complaint is it cost ******* & what I was told was going to happen did not. They treated my family like garbage in their own home. They stripped areas of paint to the bathroom resulting in me having to repair & paint damaged drywall. I have to redo the siding to include the wrap. This is a repeat review posted for the exact same story, worded slightly differently than the other one posted the same day. This customer is clearly logging in under different names so he can continue to add low star ratings and appear to be separate situations. This is disrespectful and vindictive, and we will repeat here what we just said in the other review reply, which is that the homeowner told us he was happy with the work, and that if this has changed, he need only call our office, and we will send someone out to remedy the situation.
