I was away from my apartment for a week and when I returned, I saw that the sewer backed up and spilled over the toilet - there was literally feces on the floor and it had run into my living area soaking my rugs with human waste. After numerous try's to get in touch with Vesta property, the property manger, Jim finally sent some kid over to look at the problem. When the guy saw the feces he contacted Jim, and then Jim contacted a plumber. Jim also came to see the mess. While Jim was here he told me that he would get a company to clean my rugs and get rid of the smell. Well, it has been two weeks and my rugs are still wet (I did use shop vac to help remove water and crap from rugs). I contacted Vesta and the rejectionist told me they were getting someone to pick up the rugs, again, no one came. I cannot get in touch with anyone at Vesta - they ignore my calls and text. I just wanted them to follow up with me. According to tenancy laws they have an obligation to take care of plumbing and damages caused by plumbing. I am 68 years old, and I am not in a financial position to move, so I am stuck. I do care when a company doesn't do it's job. There are two issues that are upsetting. !. It should not take numerous calls to get through to the company and they should not send someone to just look at the problem to decide if they have to address it! 2. Follow up telephone calls are paramount to tenants. We have to know what is happening. My neighbor knows Jim and so when he calls Jim - there is a response. When I call Jim - no response.Business response

To whom it may concern:
Whereas **************** was away from her apartment, during which time there was a septic backup into her apartment, and Vesta Property Management was notified over the weekend of June 4-5;
And whereas three different staff members from the Vesta Property Management team (including the author of this post) personally responded immediately to *****************'s emergency service request;
And whereas the Vesta Property Management team worked throughout the weekend to resolve a very complicated septic issue requiring multiple visits from the local municipality public works department to ensure issues that had occurred in years past were not again the cause of the issue that occurred over the weekend of June 4-5;
And whereas the cleaning of the affected rugs, as referred to by ****************, is not required by the landlord according to the current lease agreement in place, as items in the dwelling unit are the responsibility of the tenant;
And whereas the landlord offered, nonetheless, to clean the rugs on behalf of ****************, who is a tenant in good standing;
And whereas said rugs have been collected by Vesta Property Management and determined to be beyond cleaning repair;
And whereas **************** has been offered, and has verbally accepted, the issuance of a $250 credit towards the purchase of new rugs;
And whereas **************** has requested by email and verbally to Vesta Property Management to help her remove the negative BBB complaint, written, in her own words, out of frustration, and not reflective of the true nature of how Vesta Property Management handled the emergency situation;
And whereas **************** has offered to provide Vesta Property Management with a positive 5-star ****** review for how her situation was handled and resolved;
Be it therefore resolved, Vesta Property Management rejects the allegations by **************** as not factual and requests that the BBB verify with **************** the veracity of sequence of events as laid out in this response by the Vesta Property Management team, and after verifying **************'s desire to remove her complaint, do hereby honor her request and remove her complaint so as not to bring any negative consequence to Vesta Property Management, who maintains its complete innocence in relation to this claim.
