      I was recently dropped from my insurance due to propane tanks not being anchored, they was empty due to recent use, storms, cold weather. And a water leak, that was fixed yesterday 2/2/2024. I am disabled and can’t do repairs myself. My husband made the repairs when he was home from work. I was not given the opportunity to correct this mistake, nor given the opportunity with my husband to correct this. We have had there issues back to back to back and not another in 15 years of living at this residence.

      Unproperly anchored propane tanks can lead to increased risk of fire.  For the safety of homeowners we recommend that all tanks be properly anchored.  It is unfeasible for a company to try to track the fuel levels in propane tanks, so we must use a standard rule requiring tanks to be anchored.Concerning the water damage claim from November, we only yesterday received the estimate from the insured's contractor for the repairs.  Once our claims department receives the requested W9 form from the contractor we will be able to issue payment to the contractor for the countertops which will complete the claim.

      Grayson-Carroll-Wythe Mutual has been serving the residents of Virginia since 1896.  Over our 127-year history we have helped countless of policyholders in their times of loss.  However, not every claim that is reported to an insurance company is a covered claim.  There must be damage from an insured peril that occurred during the policy term for coverage to be afforded.  Normal wear and tear is not a covered peril.  When policyholders file multiple claims for the same loss, it becomes evident that there is a maintenance issue that needs to be addressed.
