On 2/25/23 I went to look for my son a car, this was on a Saturday, knowing that it had a refurb title, I asked if I could have my mechanic look at the car and he was not open until Monday. He said at first that’s no problem you can put down a couple hundred dollars, to put the car on hold, when we actually told him we were going to do this he said it would be 500 deposit. Monday I took vehicle to get it checked out and my mechanic came up with several things wrong with car, lower radiator support broke, left tire cracked/ installed backwards,air box crushed, trans cooler crushed/lines bent, left outer axle boot missing, headlight brackets broken/stapled, washer line not connected, body in terrible shape many parts replaced or bonds, coolant reservoir empty and A/C bent/smashed into compressor/A/C wiring missing at compressor. Makes you wonder how it passed state inspection. I told the guy that I thought it would be fair for him to give me back half of the deposit, but in reality he shouldn’t get anything due to what was found. My mechanic said it would cost $3 to 4 thousand to get this car fixed right. I believe I should get a full refund due to him mis representing this amount of repairs to still be done to the car.Business response

I had customer (****** *** ****** ) He interested to buy 2018 Honda Civic (*****************) I Tell my customer this car has rebuilt title before they go to test drive that i told him this car been in an accident and he went to test drive. Because of the good price I have a lot of customers. I told him usually we get a deposit to hold the vehicle for customers if they like it .And we have no refundable deposit. We have writing on the office i show them that sign too Some ports his mechanic said cost 3-4 thousand. He said oil does not change AC wiring or air box or other parts. It doesn't cost over 400$. But it is a used car. We sell all our cars (as is) with no warranty at all. I said if your mechanic does not pass deposits is not refundable.see attachment please.Customer response

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I would like my deposit back because they did not disclose all the issues that the car had, along with half ass putting the car together after the car had been in a wreck. the car should not have gotten a inspection sticker based on what my mechanic disclosed as to the issues with the car. The mechanic that I use has been in business for over 25 years and I have been using him for 20 years. My mechanic has inspected multiple cars from Majic Auto and will testify that each time the vehicles have multiple problems.* My wife was with me and when I asked how the deposit worked he said I would put down $200 and then changed his answer when we actually said we wanted the car.* If this was a reputable dealer, he would not ask for a $500 deposit that`s non-refundable, I had the car 4 hrs.* They did not disclose everything wrong with the car, when we put the deposit down. THIS ALONE SHOULD GET MY DEPOSIT BACK AND HAVE HIM FINED AS A BUSINESS.* If my mechanic would not have given it an inspection sticker, how did they get one on the car. The one front wheel was installed backwards.* The headlamps were stapled to thew body, would that pass inspection , somebody is not doing there job if he can mass produce these safety hazards on the road.* Trend, I`m sure this is not the first complaint about this business. Hi This Email is regarding the 500$ deposit on the 2018 Honda civic (*****************) Deposits are once paid are not refundable ant this matter is always dis close with our valued customer at the time of receiving deposits besides all services are done on this vehicle and dis close it is rebuilt title. But the mechanic who checked out this vehicle has raised a lot of mechanical faults over vehicle is properly repaired and has been inspected by a third party Company. Therefore to be fair Magic Star Auto Sales Administration has decided to refund only 50% of the deposit back to the customer and resolve the issue even though. We lost tow other customers who were interested in this particular vehicle which we missed a sale. in conclusion in order to serve the customers fairly we will refund half of the deposit back to Mr:****** ****** which is the amount of $250 US Dollars Best Regards MAGIC STAR AUTO SALES.INC
