The initial payment of $1,500 was on 14 Jul 22 for ********************** to provide a design plan (this never occurred). The actual contract was signed on 26 Sep 22. There was to be a total of four payments throughout the course of the project. The initial payment for a design plan was $1,500 (paid), the payment for the start of the project was $15,000 (paid), the payment for the start of tile installation was $14,000 (paid), and the final original payment was $7,400 yet was adjusted to $7,100 (not paid) was to be paid at the completion. The agreement was to provide me with a remodeled master bathroom, a new entryway/door leading into the bathroom, and a new wall closing off my master bedroom. Lastly, I was informed defects in workmanship or issues would be completed prior to the final payment. On 30 Jan 23, I submitted a list of items needing to be corrected, and I was informed they would not be corrected. I was further informed I could pay the final amount due minus $300.00, and ********************** would do some touch-up caulking and add new grout to the tile. After stating this was unsatisfactory, the secretary/director of ********************** Mrs. ******** ********************** refused to speak with me. Mrs. ********************** then e-mailed my husband, who has not been associated with this project and threatened to put a mechanics' lean on our home. Subsequently, the lien was placed on our home. Then we learned from our county hadn't pull permits for any of the renovations (moving electrical, an exhaust fan, plumbing, and adding a wall). I hired DS *************** Services, LLC, to provide a Contractor's Oversight Report. The report indicated two significant defects of cracked/chipped tiles, a trip hazard at the door threshold, and one minor defect of Missing/cracking grout on one or more floor tiles. The project was listed as ********* master bathroom and following the initial page on the proposal as ********* (name misspelled) master bath remodel.

Hello, yes, we acknowledge that we have received three payments towards this project and that we have had some disputes over the final punch out requests. We are actively working with *********************** to fulfill her requests. We applied for permits with Prince ******* County (PWC) and contacted *********************** regarding scheduling the punch out work. We worked at the job site yesterday and fulfilled many of the items. We also received inspections from PWC and now have an approved final permit for work completed (see attached). We are waiting on one more custom-made material piece and will schedule to return to finish the first week in April. We look forward to an amicable resolution.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mrs. Pierpoint did have two contractors come to my home on 28 March 2023, and they were able to also identify that the project was yet to be completed. At this time, out of the approximately fourteen items identified, eight still need to be completed, and the lien also needs to be removed and expunged from my homes record. I also acknowledge the permits were applied for and obtained. Once the previously identified issues are corrected, and the lien is removed and expunged then I will consider the acknowledgement from Pierpoint to be acceptable.

      Regards,

      *****************************

We provided two of our lead *********/bathroom specialists to the home on Mar 28 and Apr 5, 2023. We completed all items requested on Homeowner's punch list. We returned on Apr 7 to address some very minor items that were added to the punch list. We removed the lien as requested. The Homeowner did satisfy the final billing statement. Relationships matter to us at Pierpoint and this has been a very uncommon experience for us. Attached are some unedited photos of the completely remodeled master bathroom. We thank the BBB for the opportunity to respond and we will continue to get better from this experience.

      Thank you,

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and found the initial reply not to be satisfactory. However, since then the business has removed the in proper placed lien, completed all work, and adjusted the final bill to reflect I paid for a permit, and at this point I consider this complaint resolved.

      Regards,
