I bought a 2014 Rav 4, with ****** mi, for $20,000. I noticed a shudder, shortly after purchase, and had my new mechanic check it out and change fluids, I thought it was leaking oil. It was leaking black tyranny fluid, there is a leak where it is put together. I had them change the fluid and tyranny filter. The undercarriage had surface rust up to the unibody. The driveline was severely pitted and the u joints were very *****. The one u joint was not functioning from the rust, which caused the shudder. The driveline and u joints were replaced. It states that these vehicles are checked by a mechanic, this one should not have left the lot. I was told If I got the extra insurance, this would have been covered. I said that is insurance fraud. I've tried to settle up with the owner of the car lot twice and am passing on to your company. Thank You P. S. I seen the bad parts and my mechanic has footage on his phone

This is the actual response sent to *****, You were offered a Service Contract at the time of sale which you declined. The Rav4 had been checked out, the oil had been changed the brakes and mechanical were checked by an outside repair facility. Nothing was found at the time. You called and told me a couple weeks after you purchased the vehicle that you had an issue with the driveline. I suggested you bring it back in and we could check out the problem. You stated no, my mechanic is stating that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. You could have had it towed here your not that far from *******. At the time I looked up the part and found several options for a new driveline ranging from $284.00 to $400.00 my price. (which I would have shipped to you) You told me your Mechanic stated $900.00 to fix. The labor to replace a driveline is less than an hour. The total job for me would have been at the most $478.00. ****** told me that they do not service a transmission till ****** miles (your vehicle was under those miles). They also told me that the additive that is in these new transmissions turns the oil dark within ****** miles. Its the nature of the additive. Why would we pay another mechanic $900.00 to do a job we could do for $478.00. I told you I would give you $500.00 which is more than what it would have cost us to do the Job. You also stated to me during the deal that your trade in only needed an oil change, I spent $1640.00 on Valve covers Gaskets, Timing belt, Serpentine belts, Propeller shaft center bearing to get your vehicle up to par, I didnt call and complain to you about your miss representation. Then you demanded I give you $1000.00 dollars or you would give me a bad review. I was more than willing to get these issues addressed but you did not give me the opportunity.

I am rejecting this response because:There was very deep pitted rust on this vehicle, both in the driveline and the two ujoints making the one ujoint unmovable. The sales motto was these vehicles are checked by a mechanic but the whole undercarriage was missed. I had a leak that was followed up on and thought it was an oil leak, but it was a transmission leak, where the seams come together. I was disgusted and phoned to work it out for the second time, and after getting nowhere, I stated I was giving a bad review and turning it over to BBB. This vehicle was unsafe to drive and I wanted my own mechanic to work on it, due to my trust was lost on the owner/car dealership sales.Sincerely,***********************
