I have a 11 year old Rottweiler that has to be on thyroid medicine and a daily pain pill for back nerve pain. The vet made me bring her in for blood work just at the end of February to refill her prescriptions even though I told them how hard it is for her to get in and out of car, and she hurt herself doing so. Now they want me to bring her In again for a annual check up before they will refill her meds again.....the receptionist said I cursed at her yesterday which I did not because I was here at my work place...now she won't let me talk with vet. They are trying to get more money out of me and put my dog at risk of getting hurt again for no reason.Business response

This customer has an older dog on two medications. 1) Thyro-Tabs, which requires a T4 thyroid test every 6 months and 2) Carprofen, which is an NSAID and the manufacturers suggest a blood test every 6 months as well. The ************** of ******** requires an annual exam for prescribing to patients. Additionally, WAC *********** defines the Veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR) as: "A veterinary-client-patient relationship is the basis for interaction between veterinarians and their clients and patients.
(1) A veterinary-client-patient relationship exists when all of the following conditions have been met:
(a) The veterinarian has assumed responsibility for making clinical judgments regarding the health of the animal(s) and need for medical treatment, and the client or key party as defined in WAC *********** has agreed to follow the instructions of the veterinarian.
(b) The veterinarian has sufficient knowledge of the animal(s) to initiate, at a minimum, a general or preliminary diagnosis of the medical conditions of the animal(s). This means the veterinarian:
(i) Has examined the animal(s) within the last year, or sooner if medically appropriate"This client did bring her dog in for the needed blood tests in February 2022, but the annual exam for the patient expired on 5/10/22. The request for more Carprofen was received on 5/24/22, and our doctor authorized a refill of 60ct (30 days) in order for the client to make an appointment for the needed annual exam, but without letting the dog suffer in the meantime.
Our lead technician spoke with the client on 5/25/22 and tried to explain these rules that our doctors have to follow in order to maintain a valid VCPR, but she would not listen and said we were making her dog suffer (even though the refill had been authorized to get the dog through until an appointment could be made). She said that was "BS" and she would be going elsewhere and that she had already reported us to the BBB. We are not "trying to get more money out of her" as she says. We are just following the policies/procedures/laws that are in place that are required of every other client and patient.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am rejecting this response because they did not refill the prescription until after I persecceded with the complaint, and they admitted that they missed that the pet had a annual coming up to tell me so I wouldn't have to pay another office visit....they only care about lining their pockets.Sincerely,
