I alerted the leasing office (*************/DBA: The Alexander Company) on 11/14/2022 via email that the property management company was blatantly violating the lease agreement by failing to address a significant wiring issue within the tenants apartment/loft (i.e. short in the wiring causing multiple electrical appliances to not work appropriately). I explained that multiple appliances are all linked to one light switch and the short in the wiring is now getting worse. I explained that this electrical issue has been ongoing since 11/2021 (i.e. issue has existed for almost 2 years now) and was initially reported in 11/2021. I then explained that the electrical issue could result in a catastrophic event occurring (i.e. building burning down) and also provided supportive documentation (i.e. Page 10 from executed 2022 Liberty ***************** Lease, Section 30 Titled: Landlords Duty to Maintain Fit Premises) relative to the issue I reported, however, the property management company did nothing! The property manager simply advised to continue to report all issues regardless of their size and stated that she would follow up with maintenance, however, the problem was not addressed and still exist! According to the lease agreement, the **** of ** 55.1-1244 Section Titled: Noncompliance by Landlord, the Fairfax County Tenant-Landlord Handbook, Section Title: Tenant Remedies, and Section Title: ***** Day Notice, because this issue was reported and never permanently addressed throughout the entire duration in which the tenant resided within the apartment/loft (i.e. almost 2 years), the tenants lease is NULL AND VOID because the property management company/maintenance staff failed to address the root cause of a significant electrical problem! I also filed complaints with BBB/Complaint#: ********, Fairfax County Consumer Affairs Complaint #*****, Fairfax *********** of **** Compliance - filed complaint over the phone on 03/07/2023, and site visit will occur in 1-2 weeks.
