I purchased two brand new (300R) outboard engines from Mercury Racing to repower my boat approx. July 2020. Approx. cost for this was $58,000.00. Over the course of the following year I started to notice paint lifting off both motors and external corrosion was spreading. The engines have a 3 year warranty and the motors have less than 50 hrs on them. This issue was reported to Mercury Racing June of 2021 from the dealer ********** that repowered my boat. Its been 11 months and this issue has not been addressed and is getting worse. I'm told they don't have all the parts necessary to fix the problem. It's obvious these motors were built with defective parts and this problem will continue in the future. Mercury Racing has done a terrible job reporting status of my claim. I don't even have a claim number or a way to track status. They don't allow dealers to give contact info to customers to make complaints. I'm very disappointed with the quality of their product as they claim to be the best in the business. I truly regret investing in Mercury Racing products and will warn others of my experience.Business response

Dear ********************,
In response to your letter of April 27, 2022, regarding the above referenced Complaint, the
Mercury engines in question were sold in June 2020. The first report of the described issue
with the engines Mercury received was in February 2022. (We have no record of a call
from the dealer in June of ******************* the Complaint.) Mercury agreed to cover the
replacement of all needed parts to correct the issue. Unfortunately, several of the parts
were on back order.
The parts are now available and are being shipped to the dealer, next day air. The dealer
should receive the parts within 7 days and will contact the customer when the parts arrive
to complete the repair.
Mercury Marine apologizes for the customers inconvenience related to the delay in getting
the parts.
