I hired the company in June of 2022. The job consisted of remodeling the kitchen, redoing flooring and patching up the damaged caused from a pipe repair in the foundation of the home. Original bid was $32,000 +/- at that time. I paid the owner (*****) $15000 to start. The cabinets were ordered and delivered on the 7th of July. At that time I was told 3-5 weeks to finish the job. Also the bid was reworked due to more expensive cabinets which I agreed with. New bid was $42,000 +/-. I then agreed to give him another $12,000 in order to keep things moving. At that point he began missing days for various reasons. Showing up one or two days a week. When confronted about the timeframe ***** would get hostel. At the end of September (two months after start date) I asked how much longer it would take. I was told 3 weeks. After three weeks, now October, I was told he would need more money or he couldn't keep working. Already being almost $30,000 into this I agreed against my better judgement. This brings my total to $35,000 that I have paid. As of today, November 18th ***** is no longer responding to my calls or texts. The job is far from complete as there is no floor, the cabinets are not installed nor is the countertops or anything else. If ***** would have finished I would have owed him $7000. It is now going to cost me substantially more to finish. I am seeking the difference between the $7000 and the nearly $13,000 it will cost me to finish the job. I have documentation to support all of these claims.
