  I told **** these chairs are over 200 years old and I wanted them to be exactly like I brought them to him. We are recaining them. I paid $200 down at drop off. His wife **** called and said they were ready for pick up. The balance was $392.64 and to bring a check or cash. I picked up the chairs and didnt think a thing about it , until I was unloading them at my house. An hour away from Anderson Furniture Repair. The corners were rounded, there was black putty in the corners where they were supposed to have run the **** to. I sent pictures via to texts. **** finally got back to me late that day. I asked for one of two options to resolve this issue. One they fix it and take out the putty and do it properly, or refund my money. Theses were not their options for me. They offered to send me something to put on the putty so it wont get on my clothes while sitting in them . And offered $50 for my time to do it. They did not want to compromise on anything. **** kept saying we did it per the manufacture. All I asked is why didnt they call me and say, it wasnt like you were thinking it was going to turn out , we have to round the corners. These chairs have been in my family before I can remember them at my Great Grandparents home. I would have driven the hour to see what was happening. But nope. No phone calls! These chairs have been recained twice since I have owned them , and never has the companies filled the corners in with putty to do the lazy way recaining. I want my money back for the labor or I want the 4 chairs fixed properly.

  When the customer dropped off her chairs, we shared with her that the way her chairs were caned was something we had never seen before (corners cut at 45-degree angle). We also stated that we do not do caning that way and would use one continuous piece of spline (this is the way the manufacturer recommends, it is stronger). There were four people present for this conversation. She then made a down payment for the materials and left the chairs with us.

  Our goal is to always be honest with customers and we feel we have done that. A remedy was offered for a small area of putty that *** not have been sealed, but the customer has refused it.
