On March 30th I signed a contract with ***************************** of ********* Carpentry to put in a patio door where an existing window is. I gave him a cashier's check for $2,274.00 The total estimate for the patio door Is $3248.47. He told me the door would be ordered that day and it would take about 4 weeks to come in.On July 28th he said the job would be done in 2 weeks. Didnt happen. September 14th he came and took the drywall down. Then left. 2hrs. Spent here. On October 3rd he said he was going to cut the brick and/or installing the door he cut the brick on the outside of the house. Then left 3.5hr. spent here tops. After texting him 5 times in 9 days with no response He finally got back to me and told me he would be here on Monday to install the door he never showed. I contacted a friend of mine who Is a retired contractor and ask him if he would install the door for me. He said yes for $2300 I still owed ******* $974 so I used that amount towards the $2300 which leaves $1326 additional I had to pay to do the job he should have done. I think he should be responsible for this since he had 8 months and the door was still not in. The new contractor came on Monday put the door in on Tuesday and drywalled on Thursday. I texted ******* on November 4th and told him he was fired and told him I was expecting a check for $1400 because I hired someone else and this was the extra I had to pay. He texted and called me immediately wanted me to call him Monday to schedule something for Friday to come install the door. I didn't because he promises and doesn't show. Did that the whole 8 months. ******* never contacted me unless I texted him first. His communication is terrible he also said he got building permit but the city has none on file.
