I contracted Atlas Mudjacking LLC to do some work on my patio slab. We purchased the home during December 2021. The work was completed on 9/19/2022. The morning of 9/20/2022 I noticed a horizontal crack in the basement wall next to where the work was performed. I contacted Atlas Mudjacking LLC, and they came out later in the day to take a look at the basement wall and the work site. When ***** arrived I printed out a copy of my Home Inspection report from when we purchased the house 9 months earlier, and also showed photos from that same time period showing that there was no damage or cracks in that wall noted in the inspection report or the photos. On the exterior of the house a piece of structural deck board had been left leaning under a piece of the house siding. When they attempted to raise the concrete slab via Mudjacking it became jammed under the piece of metal siding, and applied downward pressure on the slab, holding it in place and preventing the slab from rising as it should have. As another contractor later told me, this likely meant that they had to over-pressurize the mud/concrete that they were pumping into the hole in the slab, which may have caused higher than normal pressure on the adjacent basement wall causing the crack/fracture. Before ***** left he said that he would send a check in the mail for the cost of the Mudjacking ($750-I paid in full the day the work was done). After 13 days of not hearing back from Atlas, I wrote an email on 10/3/22 asking for a resolution. I received an estimate for $3500 to repair the wall. On 10/5/22 I received mail from Atlas's attorney asking to sign a settlement form so they would refund me the initial $750 that I had paid them. I sent them an email on 10/10/22 stating that this amount would cover slightly over 20% of my cost to repair the damage, that it was unacceptable from my perspective, and asking for them to help us come to a resolution. I have received no communication since then.
