I am a realtor in the ********* area. One of my client's home sale transactions fell through due to the property needing a new roof. In search of a reliable roofer, I reached out to colleagues and received a referral for AER Home Improvements, run by Alfredo Castro. I shared this information with my client, who quickly contacted Alfredo in March 2024.Alfredo quoted my client $3500 for the roof repairs and agreed to start the work shortly thereafter. The scope of work included:- Replacing missing shingles - Adjusting lifted shingles - Caulking exposed nails - Installing bay window metal flashing - Installing dormer counter flashing - Installing a drip edge - Painting the exterior wood roof rake After several weeks of weather-related delays, Alfredo finally began the job in early April. He completed most of the work but promised to return soon after to finish the trim on the roof and replace some missing shingles. Despite repeated promises, the work remains incomplete as of July 2024. This delay has prevented my client from putting his home back on the market, significantly impacting the sale.Both my client and I have made over a dozen attempts to contact Alfredo to complete the work. Alfredo even offered to compensate my client for the wasted time and to pay for some drywall work in the home as a thank-you for their patience. However, he has yet to fulfill any of these promises.At this point, I am seeking assistance in resolving this matter so my client can move forward with the sale of their home.Initial Complaint

Subject: Formal Complaint Against Aer Home Improvement and Owner Alfredo Castro Dear Sir/Madam,I am writing to lodge a complaint against Aer Home Improvement, located at ****************************************************************************, owned by Alfredo Castro. I am the project manager for a roofing project on behalf of my father, *******************************, who is 79 years old and will turn 80 on September 2, 2024.On December 10, 2023, Alfredo provided an estimate for replacing my father's rubber roof. The scope included removing a deck, repairing water-damaged wood, replacing the rubber roof, and reinstalling the deck. Alfredo was given 50% upfront, with the remaining balance due upon project completion.Alfredo's crew pried up the deck boards instead of unscrewing them, damaging the underlying wood. He falsely claimed the boards were nailed down. On December 24, 2023, Alfredo claimed the job was complete and requested the remaining payment, which my father provided out of kindness.Due to significant snowfall, Alfredo did not return as promised. In spring, I discovered that less than 50% of the deck was properly secured. I had to secure the deck myself. The rubber roof was still leaking, and after numerous missed appointments, Alfredo finally returned. He tore off the deck again, leaving the boards scattered and causing further damage.Weeks passed with the roof exposed. Although Alfredo eventually repaired the roof, he has disappeared without properly reinstalling the deck. The deck remains incomplete, and the roof is still at risk.Given Alfredo's failure to complete the work, broken promises, and the damage caused, I request the BBB's assistance in filing a claim against Aer Home Improvements insurance for the replacement of damaged deck boards and completion of the project as agreed.Thank you for your attention to this matter. AER Home improvement, (Alfredo Castro) provided an estimate for a garage addition. I agreed to hire his company for the work, and when he was unable to provide a contractor's license, proof of insurance and he was unwilling to apply for the required permits, I cancelled the project. He refused to return my deposit. His office is vacant, his listed addresses are also vacant. He is rude and unprofesssional. I never got my money returned. He is the worst kind of contractor, dishonest and a liarCustomer response

Consulted with the Owner of A-Team Roofing, also DBA AER Home Improvements in Sept of 2022 regarding a total roof tear off and replacement. He initially quoted us $8,448 and said to "lock in" that price and a date, we needed to give a down payment of $1,050. That payment was made on 9/9/2022. We reached out again in November after our HELOC was approved and visited him at his office at ********************* on 11/10/2022 where we paid him $4500 CASH IN HAND of the remaining balance and the rest would be paid as follows: 1/2 upon work starting and the rest upon completion. The $4500 was supposed to go towards obtaining the material and scheduling a dumpster. He suggested we also get new gutters. He called someone for a quote and we sent him $550 on 11/29/2022 for the purchase of the gutters and he sent an updated invoice. Considering ********* weather was not very favorable after this, we touched base in Spring once the weather broke. He kept promising dates when the dumpster would arrive and nothing ever came. He came by in May "ready to do the work" but required another payment. We paid another $2500 for him to start the work which was promised by him via text message to occur on May 19. He then text saying they rescheduled for the next day due to the rain. I asked for an update on June 5th 2023 to which he replied they had been having trouble scheduling a dumpster but it should be here within the next few days. Nothing. I text him again on July 5th 2023 and now he stopped responding to texts and calls. I wish I would have looked at these other negative reviews before reaching out to him for this job. The roof leaks terribly every time it rains and it's going on almost a year that the roof should have been done. I am also filing a Small Claims suit and reaching out to the *************************** At this point I don't wish to do business any further and need a refund of all these payments.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
The business reached out to me upon receiving notice of the complaint to you and the Consumer Protection Agency. The roof was completed in a week or so due to weather and other delays. The business and I agreed to a discount due to the 8month delay of having the work done. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I was not fully compensated for work incompletion and was only partially compensated from *************************** from a contract for full Southside of roof replacement and there were many intentional damages and the business did not respond on this nor even seemed to care.dates of business resolution was from November 14 2022 to present..Business response

We purchased a house contingent on the roof being fully torn off and replaced. It took them 4 weeks to come back and put our gutters back up, which they didnt finish. They left a mess and nails everywhere. They also did not finish the flashing around the chimney. I spoke to the owner on several occasions who continued to make promises to come back and finish the work but would never show up and eventually stopped responding. They have no integrity or work ethic and do sloppy work.
