C&K roofing installed a roof on my home in 2014. i has leaked several times in several different areas over the last 9 years. when the roof was put on my parents owned the house, i bought the home in 2020. this company was out about 5 times from the time i bought the house until october of this year. they are now refusing to continue making warranty repairs on the roof. they have also refused to repair or pay for the contingent damage caused by the leaking roof. these are 30 year shingles and i have a 10 year golden pledge from the company that states they will do annual maintenance and inspection for the first 10 years. they have never done this once. my roof has started leaking in a new spot, once again damaging my house, this company refuses to do anything about this. i now have to replace this 9 year old roof and it is going to cost me almost $30,000Business response

We have a signed contract from his mother, *************************** that was signed on June 2, 2014. She was quoted two options with the only difference being the type of warranty she was going to get. The two different warranties were the Golden Pledge and the Systems Plus from the manufacturer GAF. The Golden Pledge option would have cost $11,682 and the System Plus option was $10,911. ********************* choose the System Plus option for the $10,911. Attached you can see that she was billed $10,911 for the roof portion of the job. Also attached is the warranty she would have received from the manufacturer via mail, stating Systems Plus warranty. **** is correct that the Golden Pledge warranty came with a 10 year annual inspection but they did not go with that option. The Systems Plus warranty is a 50 year warranty (not 30) on all GAF installed products. This covers material defects of the manufacturers product.
******************** states that we are refusing to come out and fix issues with his roof. We have come out and inspected every concern both him and his mom have called for. One leak was from a nail that started to back out. This is something we cannot control but can happen on occasion. Unfortunately for owners, this is not a workmanship issue or a manufacture issue. Regardless, we came out and fixed the problem at no cost. On another occasion ******************** called regarding a leak and we found that the attic hatch was open. In this instance the warm air from the house met the cold air of winter in the attic and created a lot of condensation and frost on nail heads. When frost on nail head turns to water it will drip and can appear like a leak. Once again, this was not a C&K Services issue.
Regarding ********************** most current issue, we sent out our sales rep. ************************** He has found, and told ********************, that the current leak is caused by a buckled roof board. With understandable frustration to the owner, this too is not an installation nor a manufacturer issue. This is a structural issue. ****, our sales rep., told ******************** that we could do an estimate on the cost of fixing that. With a few expletives, ******************** responded that he does not want us on his roof.
All in all none of the issues we have responded to have been due to workmanship or manufacturer defects therefore it does not fall under either warranty.
In addition to the roof installed in 2014 we also installed new gutters. At that time, they also had issues with them and how they were functioning. Out of good faith, we actually uninstalled the brand new gutter system and installed all new at no cost.
In the end we stand by the work we have performed.
