I purchased a new Suburu in ******** in Dec 2023. When it came time to purchase insurance I assumed the agent was selling me all ICBC insurance. At no time did the agent offer the ICBC limited depreciation endorsement insurance for new vehicles which costs around $300. The car was side swiped on passenger side Sept2024 and ICBC wrote off the vehicle. This is when I was made aware that Optiom insurance which was pushed on me as ICBC insurance was dealing with the limited depreciation. I came to find out I was charged $4,000 for this insurance and the Suburu dealership in Victoria was paid a $745 referal fee for what. For ******** me. This insurance was twice what I paid for my ICBC insurance for the year. The Optiom insurance agent used a lower model Suburu I had a Suburu Impreza touring and he used a Suburu Ct which was a $2600 difference on the payout. He took a picture of the Suburu touring and imposed it on the lower model in his payout calculation. He left out my $2500 trade in and my $6900 cash down payment. ICBC paid $33,000 on their part and Optiom was to pay the limited depreciation. Their calculation was as follows $4951 payout - they deducted $3581 for their insurance, which they now wanted to be paid in full. When you cancel ICBC insurance they refund you the balance. Here they want to be paid for a service they are not providing. After they deducted $4951 from $3581 I was to be given a cheque for $1371 . Complete ***** and a **** on the public . I paid $4000 for insurance and was paid $1371 for this garbage insurance. I lost $2629 so in effect they paid nothing and I was out $3581 plus $9,000 in trade in and cash deposit. So they gave me back $1371 of my own money and kept $2629. The Victoria Suburu dealership made $745 for this ****. The ICBC insurance for this would cost $300 was not made aware. I have filed a complaint to Lloyds the insurance carrier for *****. I have filed a complaint with Optiom. Next step lawsuit for insurance *****.
