This is not a professional company. They use high pressure sales tactics. The salesperson chatted us up for 45 minutes and showed us a testimonial video apparently on his personal phone. They would not answer a direct question about cost. We felt we understood what they were selling and did not need to hear his presentation, but he said we might as well watch just a three minute video while he was getting his paperwork ready (there was a lot of paperwork). We were told the cost was $39,000+, but if you initial and sign to give a testimonial you can get a $5000 discount. They manipulate the numbers and then say the cost is $28,000+ but you have to sign a contract and take the offer today. Other reviews here were quoted $22,000 and $26,000. When we said we only want an estimate, they claim they will not order until you give a deposit. They show you cheques other people have given with no date filled in (I would think this is confidential information!!) When you say you are going to read the fine print in the contract they try to heap guilt and say you are taking them away from helping other customers and they are in the business of helping elderly people. They verbally say one thing, but the contract says another. They offer to call their manager to further assure/pressure you. Thankfully we did not sign anything. This whole process wasted more than 2 hours of our time. I have never left a bad review. I am more into positive feedback. Im hoping this will help warn others. We were just trying to get an estimate for our parents who might be coming to live with us. For other items we got quotes for, they were in and out in 30 minutes and did not make us sign anything. We were disappointed to receive this review and respectfully disagree with many of the statements made by the reviewer. We were aware that the reviewer was upset with our down payment policy and the contracts language. The Direct Seller did inform the reviewer that he was not at liberty to change the contracts language. Additionally, at no time did the Direct Seller dissuade the reviewer from reading the contract. To the contrary, we want the consumer to be fully informed of all contractual terms. It is unfortunate that the reviewer would not allow the Direct Seller to give a presentation because we believe it would have allayed many of the concerns she expressed in her review. We have had the privilege of assisting over ******* customers stay safe in their home over the last 15 years. We have achieved this level of success and longevity by operating in a professional and compassionate manner and we did not deviate from those standards for this appointment.Review from Wilfred P

A representative was sent to our home for the installation of a Safe Step-in Tub. During the visit the representative filled out an BC Rebate for Accessible Home Application form for her to submit and assured my wife that we would get a ***** to help with the cost of installing the Safe Step Walk-in tub. A tradesman was hired and the tub was install. When I enquired to B.C. Housing on Dec 4 2023 about the ***** *********** I was asked if the work for the tub installation was done and paid for. I replied yes. We received a letter today declining our *********** on the grounds that our *********** needed to be approved by ******* before material or adaptations being completed.. We believe that the representative for Safe Step-in tub misled us to secure a sale and we lost our ***** ************ The ******** FILE number is ******* for information. We were disappointed and surprised to receive this review. The contract signed by the customer makes no mention of a ***** and certainly did not state that the transaction was contingent on receiving a *****. Instead, the contract states that customer was going to finance the remainder of the purchase after their down payment. Additionally, the contract states that there are no oral agreements but instead that all agreements must be set forth in writing. Consistent with the contract, installation was scheduled, and concluded, without customer voicing any objection to a ***** not being approved.After receiving this review, we spoke to the Direct Seller and she affirmed that the contract was not contingent on any *****s. The Direct Seller noted that customer mentioned that they might be eligible for a ***** but at no time stated that the approval of a ***** was required. Finally, the Direct Seller confirmed that she did not complete or submit any ***** ********** While we will be happy to submit any paperwork that customer believes may assist them in obtaining a *****, we are not aware of what else we can do at this point for assistance.Review from Jane B

Have an expensive eyesore. Tub installed May 31, 2023. Shiny white, caulk is smeared on tub, in holes, on tile floor, on ceiling, and on wood baseboards. There are no neat, clean seams. Where a wall had to be removed to install the tub and then replaced to seal the wall, there is a wave in the wall and two holes left it it. The towel rack that was on the original wall is missing. Sprayed paint on the wall is uneven and is either showing white spots through it or showing paint on the tub walls. There are fingerprints in the wider caulking where smooth neat seams should be. The calking is rising and peeling off the tub and it is splitting inside the seams. The shower curtain has a dark seed-like thing in the plastic. The seat heater does not work. The drain works sometimes. The blower worked the first day and quit. I have sent pictures and written and called my representative. Last I heard was he will send my information on to the company. That was a week ago. I have pictures of all of this which are better than the ones already sent because I am learning how to take pictures with my mobile phone. I need this tub and would like it to be an improvement to my home. This installation is not up to the quality of Safe Step Tubs.Canadian Safe-Step Tubs Inc. Response

I am pleased to report that we performed a reinstallation of the walk-in tub to address customer's complaints. We have not heard from customer since that time. We apologize for any inconvenience she incurred as we worked to reinstall her walk-in tub. We hope she enjoys her walk-in tub for many years to come.Review from Jim b

Before Purchasing I did a lot of reviews and checked out the good and the bad, I understood that every company has bad reviews, partially, because simply not everyone can be satisfied, ... I was skeptical to say the least... However, upon asking my physician for advice and going over my poor sleeping habits due to pain, he suggested that the hydrotherapy can do wonders and I soon figured out that Safe Step was truly the ******* of bathtub, and I was not about to let another day go by in life where I felt unsafe...My Safe Step Walk-In Tub has been my most important purchase in years. The staff set everything up with me and my family, and then we met at my house to go over which models of tub would suit my needs. They took all the measurements and recommended the walk-in tub for me. The staff at Safe Step was in constant contact, and it made this a tremendous experience for me. In the evening I soak in the tub and let all of the gentle jets provide all of the soothing comfort, releasing all that body tension, cramps and pain in my legs, knees and allowing me to have all those hours of beautiful sleep, not to mention get so much cleaner.Review from Lorraine M

Their customer service once the product is installed is Non exhisting.I have contacted them on 4 occasions,3 of which I had to leave a message and no one returned my call ,on the 4 th occasion a lady returned my call and said she would get someone to come out and fix my tub that was a week and a half ago and I still have not heard from anyone .Review from Carolyn G

Absolutely not the value for the money. The customer service is absolutely horrible on Vancouver Island. We paid 22000.00 for a tub that still doesn’t work properly. The panel board does not close drain. There solution was use the manual drain. For 22000.00 I feel it should do everything it says. Impossible to contact a Customer Service Department. I have tried many times. I have no confidence in lifetime warranty they claim. They can’t even get it to work correctly from the beginning. I withheld 2000.00 until repaired. Without a customer service agent checking I was happy they charged my credit card. I have no faith in warranty.Review from Vivian W.

Love the tub although it was a fortune. Over 26,000 But if you need service you are out of luck. Called in June that I had a problem and I have called over 8 times. You leave a message and nobody gets back to you. Now end of July and still waiting. I am very pleased with my walk-in shower ! It has a larger standing surface so I don't feel like I'm going to fall. There is a fold down seat that I can access if I need to relax and shower off. This is a great investment in your well-being. The installers (plumbers, electricians, etc.) were very professional and clean. We live in a condo which did present some issues but all was fixed. I would highly recommend.
