BBB received  Scam Tracker reports about Ten Bazaars, an online shopping company based in Port Moody, BC. Consumers alleged that they paid for a product and they did not receive it or were not able to do return/refund.  Following a BBB investigation into the company, it was found that the address provided on the company’s website (2209 660 Nootka Way, Port Moody BC) is also listed as the business address for another online shopping company called Hazel & Bo.

BBB reached out to the business with letters on October 19, 2020 and November 6, 2020 to confirm details about their business location, policies and any possible affiliations with the Hazel & Bo that share the same address. BBB also contacted the City of Port Moody on October 6,2020 to verify if there is a business licence connected to the company’s listed address. However, the City does not have any records for this address.

As of March 12, 2021, BBB has not received a response from Ten Bazaars. The website for the company, https://www.tenbazaars.com/ is still active.

BBB Tips
BBB recommends the following to consumers:

• Before shopping with an unknown online merchant, ask the company for its physical location (address and phone number) so you can check on its reliability with outside organizations like BBB. 
• If you tried to cancel a purchase or you are unable to secure a refund within 15 days of purchasing, contact your credit card provider with specific details about the purchase and ask for a chargeback (reversal of the charges).
• If you have purchased a product or service by credit card and it has not been rendered or received, contact your credit card company to request a chargeback.

On October 8, 2020, BBB contacted Ten Bazaars with a request for more information about the following claims made on the company’s website https://www.tenbazaars.com/ :

• 90 day money back guarantee.
• 100% satisfaction guarantee.
  

BBB also reached out to the business with letters on October 8, 2020 and on October 19, 2020 and requested substantiations on the claims of these claims and projects.

20. Warranties or Guarantees 
20.1 When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location, viewed on the advertiser’s website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, made available free on written request. 
20.2 Advertisers should only use “satisfaction guarantee,” “money back guarantee,” “free trial offer,” or similar representations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the full purchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer's request. 
20.3 When “satisfaction guarantee” or similar representations are used in advertising, any material limitations or conditions that apply to the guarantee must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. 
20.4 When advertising “lifetime” warranties or guarantees or similar representations, the advertisement must clearly and conspicuously disclose its intended meaning of the term “lifetime.” 
20.5 Sellers or manufacturers should advertise that a product or service is warranted or guaranteed only if the seller or manufacturer promptly and fully performs its obligations under the warranty or guarantee. 

As of November 3, 2020, the BBB has not received any response to the requested information and the website appears unmodified.
