As someone who lost $660, my deposit ** ***** *********, there is more to the story of Rocky Mountaineer than told here. First of all probably all the people who bought tickets for RM also got travel insurance as well, but it was rendered useless. The contract that these folks in this article signed in Feb 2020 was for the 2019 "travel season". The 2020 contract for the 2020 season wasn't posted until April 2020, and RM unilaterally changed all the terms and conditions that are referred to in this article and why many have had no luck in getting their money back. Most of us affected belong to a ******** group "Rocky Mountaineer Train Rorts" in which is 421 members and know that as fact because we have been through it all trying to get our money back. Many of these people are from Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain and have upwards of $35,000 being held by RM. People have had spouses die and were told RM would allow them to transfer the ticket. If you have time go to **** ******* "Rocky Mountaineer" and look for the 1 star Terrible Reviews and you can read what we have been through. Furthermore many people couldn't get their reviews past the Trip Advisor review team because people were literally at their wits end trying to get their money back. I had to rewrite my review 9 times and water it down before I could get mine published. Same happened to others as well. The President of RM is Steve S***** and he has a page on ****** **, and RM has a ******** page and most of us have already communicated our thoughts to them, but are now blocked, so corporate is well aware of how we feel about them. ** ********* * **** *** ****** * *** ** ********* *** ***** ** ***** **** **** ********* **** **** ***** *** ****** *** ***** ** ******* * ***** * ****** ** ***** *** *** * ***** ***** *** ******** ******* *** ** ***** *** ********* *** ** ***** **** ***

We took the Rocky Mountaineer Classic Gold Leaf Rail Circle in mid-August. Pros: scenery, meals, cleanliness of coach, dining area and bathrooms were excellent. Handling of suitcases from one location to the next was amazing, considering the volume of suitcases being handled. Cons: Unfortunately, the outside temperature was 90 degrees for most of the trip, which resulted in constant high volume and velocity of cold air in the coach for at least 8 hours of the 12-hour trip each day. Most folks requested blankets, but anyone with sinus issues was not helped by blankets, and we were very uncomfortable for most of the trip. We were told they couldn’t turn down the blast of air because the system might not be able to recover due to the ‘greenhouse effect.’ Also, there was only superficial enforcement of the Canadian government’s mask mandate inside the coach, which states everyone should be masked unless they are eating or drinking. Many people walked up and down the aisles with no mask. Others kept a glass of water in front of them the entire 12 hours, wearing no mask. We question the wisdom of doing these train trips at this time with Covid being spread so easily, as there seems to be no way to escape breathing in everyone else’s air in such a small, enclosed space for 12 hours. Even with vaccines, boosters, and N95 masks, we still tested positive for covid immediately upon our return from this trip.

They did not honor their own terms and conditions, and took me for over $10,000 US. I found them to be very misleading, *** ************. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone traveling.

My husband and I are amongst hundreds of Australians seeking our legal right for a refund from the Rocky Mountaineer for a service that they could not provide due to covid-19. Our deposit and full payment was made to them via our travel agent under the Rocky Mountaineer 2019 terms and conditions, where they state if they cancel a tour, they will repay the charges for the tour. A contract cannot be changed without your knowledge or consent *** ** ** ******* ** ** ***  However approx 10 weeks after our full payment was made, they introduced new terms and conditions dated April 2020 and are denying us a full refund and issued a credit voucher. Forcing a credit voucher has only created unreasonable stress during this ongoing pandemic. We ask for no more than the refund according to the conditions of purchase. ** ******** **** ******* **** *** ****** ***** ******* ****** *** ****** *** *** ******** **** *** ********* ** ***** ************  Their constant refusal has left such a bad taste in our mouths to ever travel to Canada at all in the future and we have warned all our friends and friends of friends on social media. Your assistance in helping us receive our entitled full refund would be greatly appreciated.
