As someone who lost $660, my deposit ** ***** *********, there is more to the story of Rocky Mountaineer than told here. First of all probably all the people who bought tickets for RM also got travel insurance as well, but it was rendered useless. The contract that these folks in this article signed in Feb 2020 was for the 2019 "travel season". The 2020 contract for the 2020 season wasn't posted until April 2020, and RM unilaterally changed all the terms and conditions that are referred to in this article and why many have had no luck in getting their money back. Most of us affected belong to a ******** group "Rocky Mountaineer Train Rorts" in which is 421 members and know that as fact because we have been through it all trying to get our money back. Many of these people are from Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain and have upwards of $35,000 being held by RM. People have had spouses die and were told RM would allow them to transfer the ticket. Furthermore many people couldn't get their reviews past the Trip Advisor review team because people were literally at their wits end trying to get their money back. I had to rewrite my review 9 times and water it down before I could get mine published. Same happened to others as well.
