I began to search around for a Mazda MX-5 throughout the web, focusing mainly on ********** as well as the individual dealership's website. I came across the 2019 MX-5 GT trim on ********** with the listed price of $40,992. I went through the link provided on ********** that led me to the dealership's (Mazda of Richmond Hill) posting on their own website with the same price shown. I reached out to the dealership by using the "Make An Offer" option via ********** and I was soon connected with a sales representative. Both the sales representative and I spoke on the phone about the 2019 MX-5, my trade in value, and getting a better interest rate (listed interest rate is 7.99%). A deal was soon reached ($40,992 at 5.05% for 72 months, with my trade in appraised at $61,000). I received verbal confirmation about the deal, the dealership obtained my deposit ($1000) via credit card, and soon the contract and credit application files were sent to me via email. Upon reviewing the contract, I discovered the final sale price has been changed from $40,992 to $44,890. I inquired about the change in price and was met with denial despite numerous previous confirmation and reluctance to honor the agreement. When I brought up the listed price seen online, the sales representative stated it was a "miscommunication".
With the most recent feedback from Mazda Canada, they have consulted the dealership and I quote: "Following a review of the matter, which you have brought to our attention. We reached out to Mazda of Richmond Hill and spoke with Brent W., the General Sales Manager. He advises us that he was unaware a deal on the vehicle was already discussed when he discounted the advertised price online, the sales rep you were dealing with had no knowledge of this either.
