We would like point out this information is all completely false. The vehicle in question was a 2002 ****** outback which we have extensive experience working with. We had done diagnostic and repaired some wiring this customer had attempted to repair themselves which was totally wrong as well as fix the crankshaft pulley the customer had completely damaged and installed incorrectly. We were paid 250 for the diagnosis and repairs by the customer. During diagnosis and after repair of the crank position sensor wiring and crankshaft pulley we found that the timing belt had jumped multiple teeth causing the car to not run. The customer had admitted he had also done work on the timing covers before the vehicle stopped running. Basically everything the customer had attempted to repair themselves was damaged to a point it had to be redone. At this point we wrote the customer an estimate for replacement of a timing belt with water pump and new timing components which the job was quoted just over 900 for parts & labor. We discussed this with the customer as the fix for the car not running and customer agreed to an appointment 2 days later. We also informed the customer we were going to repair some additional damage done to his wiring harness at no extra charge. At no point was there any pressure or even additional conversation until the customer emailed to cancel the appointment. While we were still at their house the customer also requested an estimate for the timing belt to be done on their 2004 ******* santa fe. We wrote an estimate for that vehicle which was completely separate and at the customer request. That job is more labor intensive than the ****** and was quoted right above $1600.
We were emailed strange, confusing things by the customer that didn't make any sense to the communication we had with them. We offered to price match if the customer wanted to get a quote from our competitors. We are nothing but honest and straightforward with all our customers.
